Amazing Grace 5K Race & Fun Run - SC

We are running the race with faith! Come join us for a 5K and Fun Run benefitting the children of Sidewalk Hope on Saturday, September 21st at 9:00 a.m. The Amazing Grace Race will offer fun for runners of all ages! Participants must register for the 5K course, and children under the age of 12 are welcome to enjoy special activities as well as the FUN Run. Both courses will begin and end at Drayton Mills Marketplace. Registered runners will receive an Amazing Grace Race t-shirt and the first 100 registrations will receive a special Goody Bag! All Fun Run participants will receive a ribbon and a race bracelet upon completion of their course. The Amazing Grace Race is not a timed race; however, 5K medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in both the men's and women's categories. 

Sidewalk Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to create a positive impact in the lives of children in the heart of our city and the communities in which they live through the hope of Jesus Christ. Sidewalk Hope is a mobile children’s church that takes church beyond the traditional four walls. This ministry makes weekly site visits year-round to four housing developments in the inner-city of Spartanburg. The communities served are known areas of concentrated poverty and populations that are generally underserved. Many of the children being served are not able to attend a local church. Therefore, we (as Christ’s church) go to them right where they live. Our ministry serves youth ages 2-17. 

Using a modified box truck with a drop-down side that converts into a stage equipped with music and media equipment, Sidewalk Hope goes out each week to take the gospel of Christ to children in their own housing development. Regular weekly visits consist of praise and worship, Biblical teaching, a healthy snack or meal, and individual or group prayer time. Sidewalk Hope currently serves 300-350 children each week during weekly site visits, and served a total of 700 different children during 2023. 
 
Sidewalk Hope is currently in its ninth year of service for the youth of Spartanburg's community. By regularly meeting children where they live, personally investing in their lives, building long-term relationships on a year-round basis, presenting the Gospel, and demonstrating the love of Christ in an accessible way, Sidewalk Hope is able to bring hope to an underserved population of children. Currently, there is no other organization doing this type of ministry in Spartanburg.
