Nature Marathon

I had no expectations before booking the race, I had no idea what it would be like. I nearly didn’t go but I am really glad I made the effort. I really enjoyed racing the Nature Marathon in Třeboň. Třeboň Itself is worth the trip, it’s a lovely little town and the people are amazingly friendly. During bib collection everyone was really warm and helpful. Do not worry about not speaking Czech, everyone I met was able to speak multiple languages including English. There are plenty of restaurants and hotel in the town, book ahead because the restaurants seem to get full on the night before the race. The race itself is very flat with plenty of aid stations to get refreshments. At the end someone even offered be a glass of Champagne(I declined!). Lots of people around me set personal bests but I would say that it is probably a little hard for highly experienced runners to get a PB because the surface is a little uneven in places. A brilliant race for someone to do a first marathon (or half) and great for runners who what to take a holiday (in the cheap season) and experience something very different from a big city marathon. I would stay for two nights since it’s a little difficult to reach from major airports and you will enjoy walking in the countryside after the race anyway!

First half on very good tarmac paths, next 8k on slightly uneven ground. You will be fine in a super shoe (carbon plate) but I would recommend something with a lower stack height like a tempo shoe.
