Chas Foundation 5K Race/Walk

A charity fundraiser event now in its 9th year benefiting local initiatives to improve delivery of mental health care in the Hampton Roads area.  The race is a certified fast out and back 5K course and a 1 mile Fun Run that courses through the scenic Harbour View area of Suffolk that runs along side a golf course and passes several beautiful lakes.  Race bling includes an awesome custom long sleeve tech running shirt and a runner/walker waist pack for the first 250 at packet pick up.  Easy parking available.  This race has something for everyone from elite runners to walkers.  Coffee and donuts served after the race.

Start and finish areas are located at Towne Bank University
Race Route is a certified scenic, flat, paved 5K and 1 mile course that meanders through neighborhood streets along a golf course with a water stop and course marshals

 
BENEFIT:
Proceeds from the race will be used by the Chas Foundation to improve access to local mental health care.  Board members will be on site to answer any questions and explain ongoing programs this race supports.

Schedule of Events:

September 15th:  3:15 to 6:00pm pre-race packet pickup at Running Etc. in Norfolk

September 16th:
7:30 AM - Packet Pickup/Registration
8:00 AM - Opening Ceremonies
8:30 AM - 5K (3.1 miles ) Race and 1 mile Fun run/walk

9:30 AM - Award ceremony
                 
 
AWARDS:

5K - New course record (male 16:24, female 18:04:48, Masters male 16:30:54, Masters female 19:35) will receive $300 cash award with the race medal.  Anyone breaking the Virginia state outdoor 5K record 13:54 Male or 15:46 female will receive $500. Overall Male and Female Winners and Male and Female Masters winners who have not broken the course record will receive a medal and a $50 cash award and $50 Running Etc gift card. The top 3 male and female finishers in each 10yr age group starting with age 10 to age 80yrs will receive Running Etc gift cards and a medal. . There are no awards given in the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk.
RACE SWAG:
Great race swag for both events includes an awesome long sleeve "tech" running shirt and Runner's belt waist pack (holds most standard phones or other similar items) for the first 250 at packet pick up.
