Broadway Bolt

Known as "the greatest road racing spectacle in Illinois", the Broadway Bolt is sure to help you achieve that elusive PR!  This fast and flat course ran on city streets will be lined with spectators cheering on our participants.  This race kicks off the MHS Homecoming Parade and follows the high school runners participating in the Mattoon Cross Country Invitational.  This is a family event for everyone from competitors in our 5K event to children and families participating in the 1-mile fun run/walk and anything in between! Come be a part of this special community night!

Mr. Craig Vergin, 3 time US Olympian and 2-time world champion in cross country, 4-time US Track and Field Nation Champion, former US record holder at the 10,000-meter track event, Former US record holder at the 8K, 10K, and 10-mile road race distances, NCAA and 9-time Big 10 Champion at the University of Illinois, former national high school record holder in the 2-mile track event, 5-time Illinois high school state champion in the 1-mile, 2-mile track events, and the 3-mile cross country race will be our special guest of honor starting all races and handing out awards to 5K age group winners!
