Bass River Adventure Race

 

We are super excited to host an event like this for the first time!! Bass River is a true gem of West Michigan.

About: an adventure race built for people who love to get outdoors, explore different terrain and use their fitness. Race will include checkpoints (flags) to be found by foot, bike and paddle within a 6 hour window. 

Go in any order and find as many or as few checkpoints as you like. Racers will be provided a map of all possible checkpoints. No compass required. Plus all checkpoints will be OPTIONAL, making it a great race for any first time Adventure Racer! Teams will travel together and only have one map/checkpoint card. 

Where: The beautiful Bass River Recreation area located in Robinson Township near Grand Haven & Allendale. Around 5 miles of beginner friendly mountain biking trails, some amazing paddling on the Grand River and wooded and sandy hiking trails over different landscapes. 

WHEN: Saturday, Sept 7th 2024. Race will have a 6 hour window (9-3pm) to find as many flags as possible. Check in will be from 7:00-8:30 at the front gate. Ceremony, food and awards to follow after the event.

WHO: Teams of 2 or 3 and numerous divisions. Racers are asked to bring their own bikes and may also bring their own kayaks or canoes. Along with a helmet and life jacket. Canoes or Kayaks will be available for rent with registration as well (see questions in registration). Must be 18 or older unless with a parent (12+).

 

This will be a great race for anyone who has not done an event like this before. All checkpoints will be clearly visible on provided maps and no compass will be required. Racers may go in any order they desire as long as they finish under the 6 hour cap. If you are an experienced adventure racer this will give you an opportunity to use your fitness and see how fast you can find them all.

Early Bird Registration will open on May 1st, 2024. 

Price Increase on June 17th.

 

Other details:

We will have prizes for top teams in each division.Each racer will receive a short or long sleeved race shirt and post race pizza.Due to parking, teams will be capped at 70 total teams. Teams will be only allowed one vehicle inside the Recreation area. Alternate parking will be available. Please NOTE: Vehicle must have a Michigan Recreation pass, or will be available the day of for purchase. Due to parking limitations, teams will be capped at 70 total teams.

 

Notes & Refund Policy:

Captains must register themself and pay for the entire team upon registration. By providing your teammates' email addresses, BikeReg will request their contact info, waiver, apparel size, etc. The team is not complete until all team mates sign up. Team will be paid for by captain and you are in charge of collecting team fees from teammates. 

Refunds:

Before July 15th: 100% refund 

July 16th - Aug 15th: 50% refund 

Aug 16th - 31st: 25% refund

After Aug 31st: No refunds

Due to the up front cost of hosting an event like this there will only be a 50% refund in case of an event canceled due to weather. Tentative backup date is Sunday, September 8th.
