TCS London Marathon

Very well organised and run event. Many more charity runners/costumes than any other marathon I have ran which adds to the fun/friendly atmosphere. Going over Tower Bridge is a special moment, it creeps up on you and then turn right into a wall of sound.

Iconic race and extremely hard to get a place, atmosphere was amazing, finishers medal and pack had lots of samples

Experience was amazing. 2018 First marathon, not prepared for the warm weather though! Well organised, crowds were spectacular, overwhelmingly almost! slight lack of water for the later/slower runner’s but overall a fab experience for my first. Want to be there again for a PB though!

The London Marathon is an amazing and life changing experience, I have ran the 2016, 2017 and 2018 ones and preparing for the 2019 in less than 4 weeks time. The whole event is such an iconic experience, the excitement with 40,000 other runners at the start, the amazing crowd support (the roads are lined with people for all 26.2 miles), hearing the crowd calling out your name with encouragement over 100 times on the route is amazing and inspiring, it keeps you going through the difficult miles especially towards the end (and there will be some). Passing the landmarks of the Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf, The Tower of London, finally reaching the Embankment when the London Eye, Big Ben and The House of Parliament come into view, and making your way along Bird Cage Walk to finally see Buckingham Palace, turning onto The Mall now the finish line is in sight, just another 200 mtrs and you have made it. Receiving the hard earned Medal and the joy of all the competitors completing the London Marathon is all around you. You might gather I like this event.

I ran my first London Marathon 2016 at the age of 60 with my son Justin, 2017 with my son Leon, 2018 and 2019 just me and 40,000 others, but maybe just maybe Justin will join me for 2020.
