Lake Placid Classic

On October 12, 2024, the 53nd Annual Lake Placid Classic Half Marathon and 10K will be held. This event is one of the only not-for-profit running/walking events in the Lake Placid region. The goal of the event is to raise funds for local youth organizations and supporting local wellness scholarships. Over the past several years, it has become a vital fundraiser for the local Connecting Youth and Community (CYC) of Lake Placid and Wilmington, a not-for-profit, youth development organization made up of local community leaders, youth, parents, and business partners.  Their mission is to promote positive youth development.  

This event starts and finishes at the North Elba Horse Show grounds in the shadow of the Olympic Ski Jumps, Olympic Cauldron, and high peaks.  The average number of participants are 550, so a smaller, affordable event. 

The race route encompasses two moderate hills, one at the start and one towards the end.    Start time is 8:00 am, with the course closing at 12:00 pm.  

For both distances, awards for overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and for top 3 age groups including 19 and under; 20-29; 30-39;40-49;50-59;60-69 and over 70.
