The Sorrento and Amalfi coasts greeted more than a thousand runners. Giorgio Mario Nigro and Martina Del Rosso won the race

05 Dec, 2022 (Mon)

SORRENTO (NA) – Sunday, December 4, as the Christmas lights gave way to the magnificent sunshine that woke and warmed Sorrento. Napoli Running welcomed with traditional enthusiasm over a thousand runners to the starting line of the Panoramica Sorrento-Massa Lubrense-Positano 27km, over a thousand hearts set off to the heartbeat of Vltava, the symphonic poem composed by Bedřich Smetana in 1874. Enthusiasm also came from Sorrento Mayor Massimo Coppola:“It was a beautiful day of sport and I was delighted to see in Sorrento people who came from all over the world. Guests who were able to appreciate our territories, our roads, as the views alleviated the fatigue felt by the runners.” THE WINNERS – A race that from the first steps makes clear who is going to win. Giorgio Mario Nigro (ASD Carmax Camaldolese) and, not far back, Massimiliano Fiorillo (SSD Dynamyk Fitness) are already on their own from km 2 and chased by a small group of four other runners. Sustained pace, despite the climb, with passage to km 10 in 38’40" (3.52’/km) and sharply increased at 21°km when the timer of the finish line of Gran Premio Nastro Verde was stopped at 1h16’43", pace therefore of 3’39"/km. Last kilometers of the race run always back-to-back for Nigro and Fiorillo, crossing the finish line together in 1h37’24" and after receiving the applause of the cheering public along the Corso Italia street in its warm festive attire. Third across the line in 1h39’00" was Hungarian Laszlo Bulitka, who had caught up with the leading group around km 20. Fourth, and third on the Italian podium, Riccardo Volpe (Runforever Aprilia) in 1h40’49", a little further back. “It was a great race that we always ran together and decided to finish together. We saw that as the miles went by we were able to build up an advantage, and when we entered Sorrento we didn’t even need to talk to each other to understand that we wanted to finish together. We will be back in 2023,” Giorgio Mario Nigro and Massimiliano Fiorillo said as one. THE WOMEN – The women’s podium awarded the victory to Martina Del Rosso (ASD Tocco Runner), who scored a time of 1h56’43" (4’19"/km) followed by Czech athlete Eva Vyskocilova slightly later with a time of 1h57’08". Third across the finish line was Cassandra Ulivieri (Tx Fitness SSD) in 1h57’56". Completing the Italian podium in this case was Monica Alfano (Asd Podistica Pic. Costa Amalfi) in 2h04’49".“This is the fifth time I have participated in this race crowned with a third, a second and now a first place. I started running after the death of my daughter Emma 18 years ago and I always feel her next to me. Running, apart from the spectacular views that the Sorrento and Amalfi coasts offer, gives me a sense of family. It’s like everyone is pushing you and that’s what I like about it. Then doing it in Sorrento gives you that extra so mething that only these lands offer you,” said winner Martina Del Rosso. The Gran Premio Nastro Verde was awarded to Massimiliano Fiorillo and Martina del Rosso. THE RUN OF A THOUSAND – A thousand of athletes and the many foreigners who came to the finish line celebrated their fantastic times accompanied by the extraordinary beauty of the course on a day with perfect weather and with the city all in celebration to welcome them all to the finish line, smile after smile. Event that was also possible thanks to the passion and commitment of more than 100 volunteers. As scheduled, the Family Run&Friends started at 9:20 a.m., an opportunity to sow the values of sports the many little ones who honored the event in addition to having fun with their families. Lastly also comes the comment of Carlo Capalbo, President of Napoli Running: “Even the sun wanted to kiss the Panoramica 2022 despite the weather forecast on the eve. We gave over a thousand runners a day of health, territory and a good race at a competitive level. Thirty percent of the runners who ran today came from abroad, and this can only make us happy for once again promoting such a beautiful area. The thanks to the cities of Sorrento, Massa Lubrense, Positano is really heartfelt, as well as towards the State Police and those who contributed to the success of this wonderful day of sports and wellness.” Regarding the Naples City Half Marathon on February 26, 2023. Napoli City Half Marathon - Results

28 Feb, 2022 (Mon)

Yeman Crippa – Historic Italian record at the Napoli City Half Marathon The Azzurro, Yeman Crippa, runs below the one-hour mark with 59:26 and sets the Italian half marathon record at the Naples City Half Marathon. Among women, Kenyan Gladys Chepkirui wins. Third is Sofiia Yaremchuk who crosses the finish line with the flag of her native Ukraine. NAPLES, 27th February 2022 – Basking in sun, the spectacular city of Naples sees the Italian record achieved by the Azzuro, Yeman Crippa(Polizia), who stopped the clock at 59:26 at the Napoli City Half Marathon. New Italian record, improving on Eyob Faniel’s 1:00:07; course record snatched from Henry Rono (1:00:04), first time ever for an Italian under one hour, just 13 seconds from the European record (still in the hands of the Swiss Julien Wanders, today 6th in 1:00:28). He takes the jackpot, Yeman who writes an indelible page in the history of European and Italian athletics. Naples is at the centre of the world of running, with a competition of the highest technical level with four athletes under the hour, between 59:26 of Crippa and fourth in the standings, Josphat Kiprotich (59:35 debut) the beauty of only 9 seconds and racing through the finishing line. In the middle, the Kenyan Joshua Kiplangat Belet in 59:28 and Josphat Kipkemboi Kemei in 59:32, capturing the quicksilver of this day. The women’s race will also be remembered with the success of Gladys Chepkirui, who crossed the finish line in Viale Kennedy, at the Mostra D’Oltremare, in 1:08:09, improving her personal best by over 5 minutes. Behind the Kenyan was the Ethiopian, Bezabh Ftaw Zeray in 1:09:36. Highly encouraged Sofiia Yaremchuk (C.s. Army) finished third, naturalized Italian for a year but of Ukrainian origins, who finished her race waving the Ukrainian flag and setting her personal best of 1:10:13. It is a magnificent day for Italy as well as for Naples – also with a great debut of Yohanes Chiappinelli (Carabinieri), who finished in 12th place overall, and 2nd Italian, in 1:02:08 and the 13th place in 1:02:35 by Ilias Aouani (Fiamme Azzurre), reigning Italian half marathon champion, who takes away 26 seconds from his personal best. “It is an important moment for all of Italian athletics and for me too,” says radiant and highly acclaimed Yeman Crippa, “I had a fiery gaze upon arrival. I had all the competitive nastiness that I kept inside after the 2021 season lacking in results. A few injuries, some retirements like in Siena in my debut, the Tokyo Olympics, the Euro Cross in Dublin, then today I exploded. I didn’t think I could do so well. At the 15th km, I realized that I was at the correct time for the record. I went to 14:02 at 5km, 28:12 at 10 km, 42:25 at 15km, very regular at the rate of 2:49 per km. From the tenth kilometre, I joined the leading group and around the eighteenth kilometre, I was alone, in the slight climb of 600 meters. Inside the Lazio tunnel, I launched the sprint, there was 2 km left and then I saw the finish line down there and I gave it my best. Naples is beautiful, a cheer as we raced on the course. It has been three wonderful days for me.” Before the start, all the participants of the race paid respect with 30 seconds of silence for peace and to commemorate the victims of the war in Ukraine in recent days and for all wars. Certainly very exciting and touching moments for Sofiia Yaremchuk who, in addition to arriving waving the flag of her home country, ran with a bow in her hair with the colours of Ukraine: "An important personal best,” says the bearer of the C.S. Italian Army, “I knew I had trained well in Iten in the last month. Of course, the last few days have been really difficult for me and with many concerns. Naples, this race, this day, everything was spectacular. I dedicated my success to Ukraine and Lviv, my city about 200km from Kyiv.” A great day for Napoli Running and Napoli City Half Marathon that welcomed 4200 people at the start this morning, including the participants of the 10 + 11,097km relay. “A dreamed and strongly desired record,” says President Carlo Capalbo, “we make records and firsts throughout Europe with my international team. Great records are coming and will keep on returning to Naples. Thanks to those who believed and worked with me for this exceptional result, my staff from Napoli Running and Runczech, as well as the hundreds of volunteers working with us today. ” Napoli Running is looking forward to next December 4th, when another edition of the Sorrento Positano Ultramarathon and Panoramica will be held.

Napoli Running announces race calendar and opening of registrations for the Sorrento Positano on 5 december 2021 and the Napoli City Half Marathon on 27 February 2022

02 Jul, 2021 (Fri)

Mass participation events receive an injection of confidence thanks to the slowing of the epidemic curve and the effects of the vaccination campaign. NAPLES – There is enthusiasm, a desire to run again in the magical and unique places of the running events organized by Napoli Running. Sorrento, Positano, as well as the city of Naples await runners and their energy, their wish to be there and have fun in a healthy way. Today’s Announcement reveals the dates: Sorrento Positano is scheduled for 5 December 2021 and the Napoli City Half Marathon for 27 February 2022. “We are happy that this day has arrived. The hope is that we will soon be able to savor the taste of running, of competition, of being with friends for a whole weekend, of visiting a city”, says Carlo Capalbo, President of Napoli Running. “It is time that we must persevere and move forward, as if we were in the last kilometer of a marathon, aware that we will soon find full freedom. The commitment of all the staff of Napoli Running, as always, will be to bring the city of Naples and all running in Italy back to the runners, thanks to the Sorrento Positano and the Napoli City Half Marathon”. “This is a great opportunity to make the beauties of our territory known to the world, and to offer to the many participants of this important sport event a taste of our hospitality”, were the words of Massimo Coppola, Mayor of Sorrento. “An important opportunity to promote the city of Naples worldwide. We are confident that this event will be able to convey the true identity of the Neapolitan people, made up of determination, passion and courage. We expect a significant tourist turnout in the coming months. The restart of Italy depends on initiatives like this”, said Ruben Santopietro, one of the founders of ‘Visit Italy’, the online guide to Italy, based in Milan and Naples. SORRENTO POSITANO – On Sunday, 5 December 2021 the available distances will be “Ultramarathon” of 54 km awarded by the International Association of Ultramarathons with an IAU Road Race Bronze label, and the “Panoramica” of 27 km. The Ultra Marathon will start at dawn, 6.30 in the morning, while the Panoramica at 9.00 am. The courses stand out for a unique panorama of the Sorrento and Amalfi coasts, a UNESCO heritage site, territories framing ancient cultures and lands of centuries-old traditions. Sorrento will wait for runners dressed up with lights, trees, and Christmas decorations that will add that emotional note that makes this event even more extraordinary. The event is also part of the IUTA (Italian Ultramarathon and Trail Association) calendar of events and assigns two further prizes: “Nastro Verde Grand Prix” on the distance of the half marathon 21,0975km for the ‘Panoramica’ race and “Trofeo della Costiera” at the passage to 50km in the 54km race. NAPOLI CITY HALF MARATHON – The countdown for the ninth edition of the Napoli City Half Marathon has started. The race, awarded with the World Athletics Bronze Label and Five Stars of the European Athletics Federation, will take place on Sunday, 27 February 2022. Thanks to the very fast course, ideal for setting personal best, and to the beauty of the city, a window on the Gulf that hosts Capri, Ischia and Procida, islands of unparalleled beauty, the race has now become a landmark in the panorama of international half marathons and represents one of most participated races in Italy. In 2020 the Napoli City Half Marathon was the last international event held as a mass event with seven thousand competitive runners and more than a thousand at the Family Run & Friends, which led to an immediate economic impact calculated in almost 4 million euros for the city. In the 2022 edition, the course will start from Viale Kennedy and will develop along the seafront before entering the heart of the city. The event has always been an opportunity to bring to the attention of the local population issues of a social nature such as legality, the impact of waste on the environment, or charities. Registrations are open, click here for the Sorrento Positano and here for the Napoli City Half Marathon.
