Hahns Peak Vertical Trail Race

Welcome to the Hahns Peak Hill Climb, an exhilarating challenge for athletes seeking adventure and steep elevation. Tackle this 8-mile out and back trail run, beginning at the Quarry Lot north of Hahns Peak Village, CO. Ascend 4 miles to the summit of Hahns Peak, with a final push through a talus slope to reach the historic fire lookout tower built in 1912. Benefit from a thrilling descent back to the finish line. Initially started by a group of hardcore locals in North Routt County, this race honors Hahns Peak's legacy as a once-active volcano boasting an elevation of 10,839 feet and unmatched panoramic views. Now widely shared, the race supports Steamboat Springs High School Track & Field and Cross Country programs.

The demanding course features 75% single track and 2,200 ft. of elevation gain, making it a real test for the bravest. Don't miss your "jump shot" at the peak and be wary of the elusive North Routt Yeti rumored to roam the woods! To compete, register online or on-site with a fee structure that rewards early action.

Awards await top finishers, with prizes for 1st-3rd place adult and youth categories, and a participant prize raffle following the ceremony. Professional timing ensures precise results to challenge course records set by elite athletes.

For those driving, travel north from Steamboat on Hwy 129, 30 miles past Hahns Peak Village to Forest Rd 550. Carpooling is encouraged due to limited parking.
