About the event
The Coös Frost Heave is a 15.5 mi (Short Course) or 27.5 mi loop (Full Course) starting in Jericho State Park and extending through scenic Berlin, NH. The best bike for the loop is rider's choice, the best cyclist for the loop is…definitely you.
This is gnarly, muddy fun for all — and EVERYONE is welcome, from party pacers to hardos. Gravel or MTB? It's your call. The course is mostly class IV road used by ATVs in the non-winter months, with some smoother terrain interspersed. Expect lots of rugged climbs and equally rugged descents. In between pedal strokes, you'll be taking in the mountain views and impressive scenery this course has to offer. If needed you will find two aid stations on course staffed with Coös’s finest humans (or at least, our Moms think so).
Post race you can expect food, beverages, prizes, raffles, and family-friendly debauchery. We're offering a humane start time of 10:30 a.m. to facilitate those commuting from far and wide. Categories are gender-specific, within Under 17, Under 19, Under 35, and Masters.
The Frost Heave is a fundraiser to support the Coös Cycling Club's trail maintenance efforts and active youth cycling programs. 100% of proceeds (and sponsor dollars) go to the trails and kids. For more on our mission, check out coosscyclingclub.org.
