Run For The Rock - Bridgeport

Join the Black Rock neighborhood residents as we celebrate 380 years at our annual Run for the Rock 5k! We are back and better than ever. Get ready to enjoy our wonderful neighborhood! We love our traditional Black Rock Day weekend and are very happy to be able to host it again.                   Our registration limit for this event will be 450 participants. In the past we easily went past that number- so DON'T DELAY- REGISTER NOW!

 

If we are sold out there WILL NOT BE ANY RACE DAY REGISTRATION. If not sold out we accept online registrations only (no cash payments on day of) up to 15 minutes prior to the start.

 

Your entry fee does include the coveted BLACK ROCK Shirt and they will be available the day before the race and morning of for pickup. There is no delivery if you miss the race so please have someone pick it up for you.

Black Rock’s history spans nearly four centuries beginning as a colonial settlement. With its unique location, it played a pivotal role in the War for Independence. Black Rock then became a major trading and shipbuilding center for CT.  In the last fifty years, it has transitioned into a thriving community linked to the growth of Bridgeport. Once an important industrial center, it has developed into a vibrant and close-knit community uniquely positioned to meet the challenges of the 21st century. 

EVENT FEES until June 7: $35 -  19 yrs old & over -  Online fee paid by us! $25 -  18 yrs old & under- Online fee paid by us!   
           Fees increase June 9 FREE Kids fun run-  1/10 mile from the 3 mile point to the finish. 8 Yrs & under only please.

 

SCHEDULE May 27 T-shirt size guarantee ends, then- as available June 7-9  Event Fee increase $40 for 19 & over $30 for 18 & under T-shirt size may not be available with late reg & we could run out.    T-shirt/bib pick up: Friday June 7 from NOON-3pm at SoundRunner on the Post Rd in Fairfield. Special store discounts with pickup! NOTE TIME CHANGE. Saturday June 8 from 12:00 - 2:00pm at Sun Kiss Glow, 3008 Fairfield Ave, Bridgeport, CT 06605.

Sunday, June 9 at the Norden Club

 

7:30am-8:55am Shirt & bib pickup Online reg only IF NOT SOLD OUT. There is NO paper/cash in-person registration. ONLINE/phone/device only on-site. 

 

8:45 Free kids run, last 1/10 mile of the course to the finish line. For ages 8 & under only  Parents/guardians can accompany the little tykes to avoid drama)

 

9:00  START 5K Race/walk computer chip timed 9:15  snacks, fluids, followed by awards. AWARDS - will be presented in total ‘all at once’ for each age group, not individually. They may also be available earlier if corrected results are available from our timer.    Overall M&F champions receive special prizes 
  M & F age groups  9 & under, 10-13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+ will have awards for 1st, 2nd & 3rd 

You must be present for your award or have someone take it for you- they will not be mailed nor available after that date.

Course highlights- great water views, 90% flat (OK, there is one hill), quiet roads,

WATER TABLE ON COURSE but BE PREPARED- hydrate before & carry your own fluids if needed. 

With fixed costs and pre-payment of many items, this means we CAN NOT under any conditions REFUND any registration fees. Whether we are live or need to go virtual our commitment to our charity funding will be maintained. We hope you can support this commitment and join us.
 
IMPORTANT DETAIL- There will be a 450 person limit for this 5k event. We need 200 people to break even with our fixed costs! We encourage everyone to donate any additional amount to the charity.

 We will be using a chip-timed system with the chip attached to your bib. The bib must be pinned on the front area of your clothing- NOT on the BACK. 

WE NEED YOUR HELP FOR A SAFE & SMOOTH START- If you are truly at a speedy running level (6-7min pace per mile or under) we urge you to be at the FRONT of the start and ready to go at 9 am. This will avoid crowding on the course and help everyone to run more safely. Thanks!

ON THE COURSE- We ask you to stay safe, announce if you are passing from behind, and not to run in groups. PLEASE DO NOT USE EARPODS, HEADPHONES, or similar accessories which will keep you from responding to directions, traffic, emergency situations, and the wonderful sounds from our neighborhood and cheering fans!

PLEASE BE AWARE OF EACHOTHER'S PERSONAL SPACE- STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY. We will follow all state and city guidelines as it pertains to outdoor events.
