2023 LOST 118 (Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail)
The 17th Annual Running of this Iconic Event
7:00am February 4th to 9:00pm February 5th LOST 118 Mile Ultramarathon is run under a full moon each February around Lake Okeechobee, the seventh largest lake in the United States and the largest in Florida (covering over 730 square miles). The races goes through five counties (Glades, Okeechobee, Martin, Palm Beach, and Hendry) and includes 118 mile individual; 118 mile relay (2-6 people); 50 mile; and 50 mile relay (2-4 people). 50 milers have a 15 hour cutoff and 118 milers have a 38 hour cutoff. The race will start and end in Clewiston (the southern point of the Lake) and will run counterclockwise - 118 mile runners will loop the entire Lake Okeechobee. The race will be chip timed by Mike Melton of MCM Timing and the events will have staggered starts, starting at 7:00am. Packet pick-up will be from 4-8pm the night before the start and again at the start line the morning of the race. The Hampton Inn, Clewiston, is the host hotel and it is about 1.2 miles from the start line, which is at Municipal Boat Ramp in Clewiston. Clewiston is about 33 miles west of West Palm Beach, about 80 miles north of Fort Lauderdale, and about 60 miles east of Fort Myers. There are plenty of hotels, gas stations, restaurants, and even a super Walmart in Clewiston. All individual runners must have a CREW, there are no aid stations on the course, and drop bags aren't a viable option. This applies to all distances. Relay runners can be their own crew. PACERS: Runners can have pacers starting at the Pahokee Boat Ramp (about mile 25). To add a team member have them register and select the "Join a Team" option, select your team and finish the registration process. If you need to change a team member you can transfer a registration to another person and they are responsible for the money aspect. Email: LOST118Ultra@gmail.com to transfer.
You must be registered by January 10, 2023 to be guaranteed your shirt size and swag. After that we will try to guess and supplies might be limited. Additional shirts may be ordered at the time of registration or on the website after. CREW & PACERS must register. There is no cost but every crew and pacer must register. Parents can register for their kids. This helps us have contact info for crews in case something changes and we need to disseminate important information. Also see the Crew Notes section below. LOCATION START/FINSIH LINE: Municipal Boat Ramp, Public Access Road, Clewiston, FL 33440. Join the LOST 118 Mile Run and Relay FACEBOOK group for the event for additional and updated information. DEFERALS: After you register if you find you are unable to attend for whatever reason, you can defer a registration one time to the next year’s race. Send an email to LOST118Ultra@gmail.com to discuss a deferral. You have until January 15, 2023 to request a deferral - no deferrals after that date. The two 118 events loop the entire Lake and the 50 mile races are out and back with a turnaround at the Pahokee Boat Ramp (exact location t/b/d). NOTE TO CREWS: Most of the CAP's ("crew access points") will require you to walk up to the levee a distance of between a few hundred feet and a quarter mile, and then back down to your car. A small rolling cooler might be helpful to transport your runner's supplies up to the levee while leaving a larger cooler in your car. The race has a No Refund Policy. Deferrals are only one time, to the next year's event. If you find you are unable to attend for whatever reason, you can defer a registration one year only, as set forth above.
