Iron Run half-marathon and Charcoal Challenge 5k

The annual Charcoal Challenge 5k run/walk and Iron Run half-marathon will be Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Pine Grove Furnace State Park. 

These concurrent trail races are promoted by the Friends of Pine Grove Furnace for the benefit of our 501(c)(3) non-profit in Pine Grove Furnace State Park. All proceeds support recreation, education and conservation in the State Park. The race courses show off the beautiful State Park and surrounding Michaux State Forest.

Early registration online ends on May 18 at 5 PM. After that, you can register on-site the morning of the races. Note that race T-shirts are only guaranteed for registrations received by 5 PM on May 18 -- after that, the registration fee goes up and no race shirts will be available.  

Same-day registration opens 6:30 AM on June 10. Half-marathon runners must be at the start line by 7:20 AM for the 7:30 AM start. 5k runners/walkers must be at the start line by 8:20 AM for the 8:30 AM start. Allow 5-10 minutes to get from parking to the registration area at the old stone furnace stack. Restrooms are at registration.
