Carolina Animal Rescue &Adoption is a no-kill, non-profit animal shelter located in Sanford, NC. We rescue dogs/cats from high-kill shelters across many counties in Central NC. CARA took over the mission and the small shelter from the SanLee Humane Society in 2004. Since then, we have rescued thousands of animals in search of their FURever Homes! We are fueled entirely by donations and fundraisers!  We receive no public funding or grants so we rely heavily on events like these to help maintain our shelter, give the medical care to our animals as well as spay/neuter before being adopted to their furever homes!  Ride For Their Lives! began in 2009 when a few cycling enthusiasts came to us with an idea of a Bike Ride to raise money!! It's become our largest fundaiser for CARA!!!  *All Levels are Welcome to Ride!!*

Join us at our 13thAnnual  RIDE FOR THEIR LIVES!!!  Saturday May 7th  at Camelback Bridge/ Deep River Park in beautiful Gulf, NC (near Sanford). Beautiful well supported Routes! Choose from 10mile, 50k (w/ 45 mile option)  or 100k Routes!  There will be a Bike Mechanic on site at the Start of your Ride to get you tuned up!  The routes have well stocked and supported SAG /Rest stops to keep you hydrated and fueled! We will have support vehicles on the route to give you a lift if needed!

We offer a delicious lunch and tasty cooool beverages Post-Ride at Deep River Park/Camelback Bridge (the start and end of the ride). We also plan  to have a few of our  Adoptable CARA Pups join us Post-Ride!   Bring a lawn chair to enjoy your lunch, rest your legs and enjoy the beautiful scenery, at Deep River Park/ Camelback Bridge !  We typically hang around until 2pm!!!

***COVID NOTICE***As we navigate the continued effects of COVID-19, the health and safety of our participants and volunteers is
our top priority. To that end, we have developed protocols based on the latest guidance from public health
authorities and USA Cycling. This information might be updated as we approach the event date. We ask that
you embrace, without compromise, these guidelines that are required to ensure every one’s safety.
 We strongly encourage everyone to get vaccinated to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
 On-site volunteers will  be fully vaccinated.
 Masks are strongly encouraged any time that you are not eating, drinking or riding your bike.  Please have
a mask on hand to wear any time that you are within an enclosed space (including a SAG vehicle.)
 Volunteers serving food will be masked at all times and will wear gloves. Surfaces around food serving
areas will be kept clean and sanitized. Pre-packaged food will be available at Rest Stops.
 The event is planned to allow for physical distancing at the Park and at Rest Stops. We should each do our
part to maintain the 6 foot distancing rule.
 Hand sanitizer and a limited number of masks will be provided.
*We ask that you take every one’s safety into consideration and stay home if you experience any COVID-19
symptoms within 48 hours prior to the Ride. If you have previously experienced symptoms or have been
exposed to some one who tested positive for COVID-19 at least five days before the event (the currently
recommended isolation period,) but you are not currently experiencing any symptoms, a negative test within
48 hours will clear you to participate.
Please consider staying home if you are at elevated risk from COVID-19. Risk factors include chronic lung
disease, moderate to severe asthma, serious heart condition, diabetes, MS, chronic kidney disease, liver
disease, or anything else that makes you immuno-suppressed.
