WMBA Chain Stretcher MTB Festival: XC & Enduro MTB Race (Part of the NYS MTB Series)

The Chain Stretcher is back and better than ever! Or should we say the Festival is back and better than ever? Either way, come to Blue Mountain for a day of celebrating mountain bikes and riding amazing trails. Brought to you by the Westchester Mountain Bike Association.

Racers will get full festival access included with their registration. If you would like to attend but not race you must pre-register or pay a day-of surcharge at the event. WMBA members attend for free! Race twice and get the 2nd race for ½ price! The schedule allows for you to do both an XC race and an Enduro race. Combining the Epic and Enduro is possible but not advisable. 

The RacesEpic 

This is not for the faint of heart. The fastest riders can expect this 25+ mile course to take over 3 hours. Most normal people will be in the 5 hour range. The route will consist of 3 laps and cover nearly every trail in Blue Mountain including some very technical singletrack and insanely difficult climbs. The twist: each lap is different. This offers feed opportunities each time through the start / finish but a course that offers a huge variety of terrain. It can be done on a hardtail but full suspension is highly recommended. The winner of this race will be crowned Ruler of Blue Mountain. Cash payout for top 3 men and women. See the link below for a draft of the route. 2024 Chain Stretcher Epic (Draft)

XC - Short 

This race is for beginners and people who don't want to spend too long out there. The 6 mile loop includes easy to moderate singletrack with plenty of climbing and descending. It will test your skills but can be enjoyed by all skill levels. See the link for a draft of the loop.  

2024 Chain Stretcher XC Loop (Draft)

XC - Long 

This is 2 laps of the same loop as the short course. For people who want more time to test their endurance or just want more bang for their buck.

Enduro 

Want to challenge yourself on the fun parts but relax on the climbs? This is the category for you. Compete against each other over either 3 or 5 mainly downhill segments. The fastest cumulative time wins and you can socialize and exchange tales of valor as you make your way from one stage to the next. Segments will be announced well before the race so they can be practiced. We will have the official segments marked for practice Saturday afternoon. The 3 Stage course will cover a total of approximately 7 miles and the 5 Stage course will be approximately 15 miles. 

Omnium

Register for this to combine the 2 lap XC race with the 5 stage Enduro race. There will be an overall Men's and Women's winner. The 2 maniacs who have the fastest time combining 2 XC loops + 5 Enduro stages will be the winner. 

All races will be mass starts. Results and age group awards will be posted afterwards. If there are too many people for a given distance riders will go off in waves to minimize crowding. All riders will get points towards their age-group classification for the New York State Series.
