Leander Outrun the Sun 5K

Commemorate this once in a lifetime event with a special Leander 5K or fun run this year!  Custom color medals for all runners and sign up for the Trilogy with all three Leander races for the full stacking 2024 medal!!!! The Leander Outrun the Sun 5K takes place in the beautiful Lakewood Park. This chip timed event starts in heart of Lakewood park and wraps through the sculpture garden (5k will require 2.5 laps). The 5k course does go off road and has uneven terrain and some rough surfaces.  If that is not for you, simply stay on the great lawn course with our fun run that is a flat level surface.  See how many laps you can make before the total eclipse. The great lawn course is flat with no hills or rough terrain. This event will have VERY limited participation, so sign up early to ensure you can join us for this exciting event.  All racers 5k or fun run will need a registration. 

Race Details and Schedule:

DETAILS: Outrun the Sun 5K Monday, April 8th 2024 at  Lakewood Park. The race will loop through Lakewood Park. Every entrant will receive a high quality shirt of his/her choice and a custom color finisher's medal.

The fun run is a stroller friendly & dog friendly race, all dogs on leashes and only friendly dogs allowed.  The 5k is a combination of solid surface and mulched terrain.  It will not be stroller friendly, but our 4 legged friends will love it!

PACKET PICK UP: Race packets can be picked up at the Leander Chamber of Commerce April 4th or 5th from 9-5pm.  All packets must be picked up by April 15th if you are not able to attend the event.

PRIZES: The 5K awards ceremony will follow the completion of the race with a first place gold medal awarded to the top finisher in each age categories (14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 and over) for male and female, and an award for most laps completed for the fun run.  All finishers will receive a medal as they cross the finish line.

PARKING: Only racers will be allowed to park and access the event.  You will need your racer registration to enter, only registered racers will be allowed to race.  NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE PARK WITHOUT A PASS BY CAR, AND A REGISTERED RUNNER.

All participants must have a bib in order to participate.
