Everything began with a concept to link the 13th-century capital of Lithuania, Kernavė, and the current capital, Vilnius (both UNESCO World Heritage Sites), via a picturesque trail course. In a word, what can you expect here? Green! 80% of the route goes through forests, while the rest will take you along the Neris River, untamed meadows, and small villages. The Kernave-Vilnius Trail race is the longest-running ultra trail in Lithuania.

Most of the course goes through protected areas of Neries Regional Park, where you will see wild nature, etnographical villages, ancient mounds and of course Unesco Heritage site Kernavė - the historic capital of Lithuania. Quite a few of these areas (the mounds, river valleys, oak tree forrests) were considered holy by Lithuanians in pagan times.
