IDEA Public School's Healthy Kids Here program recognizes that the roots of academic success for our students run far deeper than classroom learning alone. IDEA started Healthy Kids Here seven years ago with the goal of becoming the healthiest district in the country. As part of our mission to become the Healthiest District in America, IDEA Public Schools hosts the 3rd Annual Healthy Kids Here 5K Run | 1K Walk & Healthy Living Expo to engage the El Paso community in a family-friendly and educational opportunity which encourages families to be active.

Frankie Gray, executive director for IDEA El Paso Public Schools says, “IDEA believes that in order for students to get to and through college and beyond, they also need a foundation of knowledge and skills necessary to maintain their health.  As always, we don't do what's easiest for adults; we do what's best for kids."

Proceeds from the Healthy Kids Here 5K Run will support programming efforts for scholars at IDEA El Paso schools.

Your Race Details: Date: Saturday, February 24, 2024, 7:30 am Location: Ascarate Park Parking: Free, on-site  Races: The 5K Race is competitive and starts at 8:15 am.  The 1M Walk is non-competitive and starts at 8:25 am.  Awards: Every runner in the 1 Mile & 5k receives a Finisher Medal. 5k trophies: 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place for Male and Female in 3 age categories 12 & Under 13-18 18+ Top Campus Participation: IDEA campus with the most runners on race day will win a TRAVELING TROPHY that will live at their IDEA campus until the next year's race! Who will take it home?!. Race is rain or shine. No refunds allowed.   Packet Pick-Up (includes bib for all runners and shirt for paid runners): Thursday, February 22 & Friday February 23
