이벤트 정보
Here are the event details for this hike:
The Veterans Memorial Recreation Area hiking course will be 3 miles of hiking. Bibs will be given out on the day of the event, Sunday morning.Sunscreen and bug repellent are advised. Prizes will go out to the top three hikers who raise the most funds.Make sure to bring a backpack or fanny pack for holding water bottles. We will have water at the beginning of the trail. Some snacks will also be available but bring what you prefer to eat on a hike. Granola bars, raisins, beef sticks or jerky and cheese sticks are all good options.Wear proper clothing. Anything polyester with rayon or nylon is wicked which will absorb yoursweat and keep your body at a cooler temperature. It will be cooler so at least two layers is suggested. Merino wool would be a great second layer. Make sure you have hiking shoes. No
high heels or sneakers please. Be nice to your feet. You may want hiking poles. There are small hills.Another preparation is training. Muscle endurance is key to success in hiking. Doing squats or any yoga will help to build your muscle endurance. Stairmaster or stationary bike for 30
minutes a day helps tremendously. When hiking, it is good to have your cell phone to make an emergency phone call or to track yourself when hiking. Hiking Project is a good app to have on your phone to make sure you are not off trail. You can find the app on play store if you have an android phone. There trails are shared with bicyclist so be on the look out on crossing over bicyclists.
Help make an even bigger impact by getting pledges toward your hike! We would love for everyone to make a goal of getting $100 or more in pledges. Pledges can made through pledgereg.com, the website can be shared with your friends and family. Pledges are not required.
