The Meers Volunteer Fire Department is proud to present the 2024 Tour de Meers Bike Ride. This popular ride is a fundraising benefit event for the Meers Volunteer Fire Department.
WHEN: Both pre-registered riders check-in and walk-in registration opens at 6:00am. The tour begins at 7:30am, Saturday May 25, 2024.
WHERE: The ride begins at the Meers Volunteer Fire Department, 26362 State Highway 115, Lawton, OK 73507 located 3/4 mile north of the Meers Store restaurant. The rural community of Meers is located 25 miles northwest of Lawton, OK and 11 miles north of Cache, OK.
Meers is an unicorporated community located adjacent to the 60,000 acre Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge which the road bike tour courses through. This outstanding scenic ride offers both challenging hills and straight paths. Along the way there will be buffalo, deer, elk, Texas longhorn, beautiful mountains, lakes and forests. This is a quality ride with numerous rest stops and full support all the way. The routes travel through historic Comanche and Kiowa Indian country. Gravel Grinder routes take place in the Saddle Mountain area along country roads not located on the wildlife refuge.
Online registration ENDS Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Participants may register on site the day of the ride beginning at 6:00am, but we encourage you to avoid the crowds by pre-registering. The preregistered fee is $35.00 for single bike and $50.00 for tandem. The fee for registering the day of the ride is $40.00 and $55.00 for tandem. Pre-registered rides are guaranteed a T-shirt, but riders registering the day of the ride receive free T-shirts only as quantities last. Pre-registered riders may pick up their packets at 5:30pm the evening before and at 6:00am the morning of the ride.
Waiver of responsibility must be signed by each participant; all riders must wear helmets. NO REFUNDS. This event is RAIN OR SHINE .
Children under 12 can ride free when parent(s) are registered participants.
