About the event
Prepare for the ultimate cycling challenge at the Waucheesi Bike Event. This thrilling ride offers three demanding distances: the Wily 88, the Wondrous 63, and the 45, all meticulously designed by Chris Joice. Challenge yourself with the stunning backdrop of the Cherohala Skyway and the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests, featuring long climbs, rapid descents, rugged gravel, and breathtaking views. The 88-mile course will push you to conquer over 11,500 feet of climbing, while the 63-mile option challenges with over 8,800 feet. Both feature the tough Basin Gap and North River Road climbs, with the 88-mile route adding the awe-inspiring Farr Gap climb. Top finishers for each distance will earn prizes. For a slightly less intense option, tackle the 45-mile course, which offers a scenic tour through Cherokee National Forest and Bald River while ascending 4,100 feet. Note that this distance does not include prizes.
Athletes must finish before sunset with specific timing checkpoints for 63 and 88-mile courses. Riders must reach the 24-mile mark by 1pm or switch to the 45-mile route, and the 45-mile mark by 2:30pm or change to the 63-mile route.
