About the event
The New England Women's Gravel Multisport Festival is a chance to come together and enjoy a day and celebrate the end of the multisport season in beautiful Pawtuckaway State Park. Participate in the individual triathlon, duathlon or aquabike, or grab a friend or two and do the event as a relay! Stay afterward to enjoy a celebration with snacks and a raffle for some great prizes! The event is presented by SHEcoast Multisport, and it is open to any person who identifies as a woman including cis, trans, non-binary, or any significantly female-identifying persons. A bike course preview ride will be hosted on Sunday, 9/24/23 at 8 am. Please select this option at registration if you would like to attend.
Thank you to Major Sponsor Core Orthopedics and Sports Med, Roots Integrative Therapies and the Athletic Performance Center of Exeter Hospital for partnering on this event!
Please note that this is not a race and there will not be chip timing or race numbers, nor will there be awards based on placement/finish times. This festival is an opportunity to enjoy a fun multisport event in a beautiful park area surrounded by supportive friends - new and old. If you would like to record your time, please bring your own watches/computers.
Transition area will be in the parking lot near the beach at or near your car. While we will have volunteers in the area, each participant is responsible for their own items and the event management is not responsible for the loss of any items. Please plan for a way to secure your valuables, including your bike, while you are out on the course.

Courses: All courses are open to the public, please respect others that you see out on the course.
Swim Course: A personal swim buoy like THIS ONE is required for this event! Please purchase one well before the event to ensure you are able to participate in the swim leg. If you do not have a swim buoy at the start, you will be asked to change to the duathlon.
The swim course is an out and back in Pawtuckaway lake, supported by lifeguards and volunteers on paddleboards.
Bike Course: Helmets are required for the bike course. Bright clothing and front and rear lights are strongly encouraged. There will be no aid stations on the bike courses, so please plan to bring your hydration and nutrition with you.
We have 2 options for bike courses - please select the option that you plan to do (or your relay partner plans to do) while registering.
6.2 mile course: The entirety of the 6 mile bike course is within the park on a mix of park road, trail and gravel road. The trail will be a rolling trail with a couple of punchy climbs and fast descents and has some technical areas with rocks and roots. This is a great option for someone newer to gravel riding, or who would prefer a shorter course with less elevation. A gravel, mountain or hybrid bike that can handle trails is required to participate! An aid station will be set up in the transition area. Please plan to carry your hydration/nutrition with you if needed out on the course.

15.5 mile course: A challenging course with ~1050 ft of elevation. 9 miles of the 15.5 mile bike are on quiet, public roads, and will be a mix of gravel and road. 6.2 miles of the course is within the park on a mix of park road, trail and gravel road (the 6.2 mile course described above). A gravel, mountain or hybrid bike that can handle trails is required to participate! This is a great course for someone more experience with gravel riding, and who wants a challenging course. Please note that gravel/trail riding is significantly slower than road riding, so plan your time/nutrition accordingly! An aid station will be set up in the transition area. Please plan to carry your hydration/nutrition with you if needed out on the course.

Run Courses: Trail running shoes are suggested for this event.
The 1.5 mile run for the duathlon and the 3 mile run for the triathlon and duathlon will be on a mix of park roads (paved and gravel) and rolling trail. An aid station will be set up in the transition area. Please plan to carry your hydration/nutrition with you if needed out on the course.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Do I have to complete the event within a certain time to participate?
We have a 3 hour time limit to complete the event. You may stay in the park afterward, but all support and directional aids on the course will be removed after the 3 hour time limit. Please note that gravel and trail riding and running tend to be quite a bit slower than riding and running on the road. While we have left extra time to account for this, we are offering a 6 mile bike route to accommodate those who are new to riding off road or who are concerned about finishing within the time limit.
Will the course be available to view before the event?
Yes - GPX files, as well as turn by turn directions will be posted for all bike and run legs. A course preview for the bike courses is scheduled for Sunday, September 24th at 8 am. You can select this add on at registration.
