Mighty SMBA Challenge

Come join the Saratoga Mountain Bike Association (SMBA) for the 2024 Mighty SMBA Challenge!  

SMBA is excited to partner with Artisanal Brew Works to show off and challenge riders at our very own Daniels Road State Forest (DRSF). All proceeds of this event will go towards securing a grant to build a multi-purpose trail into DRSF to help with maintenance and emergency rescues. The trail will also eventually be used to connect Skidmore trails to the Graphite Range network. 

The Mighty Challenge is not a race. The primary goal is to come together as a community and give back to our trails. While we encourage friendly competition, safety should always be the top priority. Please ride responsibly, respect other trail users, and look out for one another on the trail.

Start Logistics

The ride will be departing and finishing at the Artisanal trailhead at DRSF. Riders will start and finish on Sniffer (the new trail that connects Noob(ee) to Artisanal). The ride will begin in staggered groups starting at 9am. A confirmation email will be sent to registrants closer to the event date with more specifics. 

Routes

We are excited to offer 2 stellar routes to ensure there is a challenge for everybody! Both routes have been designed to ensure they hit all the rocky and rooty fun that make DRSF so unique and special to ride!

Intermediate Loop: A 10mil loop along a fun but still challenging loop in the southern part for the network. This route will require some technical riding skills. We anticipate this loop will take 2+ hours. Advanced Loop: A 20mil loop around the northern and southern parts of the network for a true challenge! This is a very difficult route, requiring high technical riding skills and endurance. We anticipate this loop will take 4+ hours. 

Route Signage

This will be a self-supported ride. SMBA will mark the main intersections, but downloading the route files from Trailforks ahead of time (or familiarizing yourself with the route) is recommended. We will also have several SMBA members riding along to help guide riders along the course. 

Refreshments

Each registration comes with a delicious burger (vegetarian Beyond Burgers available) and chips along with refreshing beer from Artisanal Brew Works. Each  rider will also receive a ticket for a raffle that will take place after the ride (more raffle tickets can be purchased at the event). 

Additionally, Death Wish Coffee will be on hand in the morning providing free coffee to help get you ready for the Challenge!

Parking

Due to limited parking at the Artisanal trail head, we encourage carpooling or riding to the event if possible.

Please note that the trails will not be closed to the public for this event, so please be respectful to all trail users.  

This is a rain or shine event! Regardless of what mother nature decides, the Mighty DRSF always delivers a good time.
