Mattoni Liberec Nature Run: Hrochová improved the event record of 12K race by five minutes

08 Oct, 2019 (Tue)

Credit : RunCzech Mattoni Liberec Nature Run: Hrochová improved the event record of 12K race by five minutes, Vít Pavlišta dominated at 23 km distance The second year of the Mattoni Liberec Nature Run 12 & 23 km, the tenth race of the RunCzech season, was dominated by Vít Pavlišta in the 23 km race (1:26:16). Marcela Rambová (1:47:57) was the best among women. 12K distance was won by Robert Heczko (0:43:31). Tereza Hrochová managed to improve the 12K event record by five minutes clocking 0:48:11. All the winners together with almost 2,700 other participants had to cope with cold and rainy conditions. Vít Pavlišta confirmed again his great form. During the whole RunCzech season of this year he was usually the best Czech runner. “It could have been harder today. I ran my pace and had no one to race with, ”said the winner of the 23-kilometer race Vít Pavlišta, adding that rain and mud made the course even more difficult. “It was quite cold up there in Jizerka Mountains, the surface was slippery and muddy. Certainly it was more difficult race than last year,“ he added. A total of 2,673 runners participated in the Mattoni Liberec Nature Run. 1,289 runners took part in the 23 km distance, and other 1,394 competitors started the 12 km race. 708 parents and children ran the dm family run. The Mattoni Liberec Nature Run was committed to being an all round natural, pure and, above all, environmentally friendly race. It was organized in the principles of the circular economy. Mattoni, the long term partner of RunCzech, has developed a special edition of Mattoni bottles made from 80% rPET plastic which are subsequently recycled and used to produce new bottles with the same features. This allows to achieve complete circularity with the plastic bottles. The 2019 RunCzech running season will end with the last race in Italy, Sorrento Positano. It will take place on December 1 and offer two courses – Panoramica 27 km and Ultramarathon 54 km.

The Mattoni Liberec Nature Run will be the world’s first circular economy race!

30 Sep, 2019 (Mon)

Credit : RunCzech Taking place for the second time, this year’s Mattoni Liberec Nature Run will not only be remembered as a beautiful race through nature, but also one that went down in athletics history. The running community and the world of ecology will forever cherish this final race of the RunCzech season in the Czech Republic for its trail concept, but also a unique project which will catapult it to global acclaim. The Mattoni Liberec Nature Run is committed to being an all round natural, pure and, above all, environmentally friendly race. And this is why on 5th October it will become the world’s first circular race! What does this mean in practice? At refreshment stands around the course, runners can look forward to a unique edition of Mattoni Eco natural mineral water poured into cups from 80% rPET 1.5 litre bottles. Following the race a special cleaning crew will be put in charge of collecting any used plastic bottles. “As a longstanding RunCzech race partner, we are taking advantage of the opportunity to prove that our commitment to the “bottle to bottle” motto is achievable. We have developed a special edition of Mattoni bottles made from 80% rPET plastic which are subsequently recycled and used to produce new bottles with the same features. This allows us to achieve complete circularity with our plastic bottles which in turn makes it the world’s first circular race. It is something we plan to also introduce to subsequent RunCzech races” Alessandro Pasquale, CEO of Mattoni 1873 reveals. Part of the magic of the entire project involves longstanding sustainability and continuous care of the local environment. A group of runners will be put in charge of eliminating waste and plastic from the course both prior to and following the race. “A group of avid long-distance runners from Jablonec and Liberec along with the Mattoni FreeRun coach already began a so-called ‘plogging’ initiative following last year’s Mattoni Liberec Nature Run. This means they regularly head out into the terrain to continuously clear the course from unwanted waste. There are a total of 50 coaches leading groups and the number is growing,” Štěpán Hickl, RunCzech’s Mattoni FreeRun project manager explains. “Ecology and the environment are themes we care deeply about at RunCzech and we greatly appreciate the help from our North Bohemian Mattoni FreeRun groups. We would be delighted to see other amateur runners and their coaches involved. There are loads of places out in the countryside where you can head to for running and generally relaxing. And nowadays it is especially important to pay nature back for the experience by tending to these green spaces and keeping the environment clean and beautiful for everyone,” he adds. 3 700 runners will be taking part in this year’s Mattoni Liberec Nature Run. In the main race people get to choose between two courses. A longer 23-kilometre race or a shorter 12-kilometre version. A total of 3 000 enthusiastic amateur athletes will run in both categories. The event will kick off with the dm family run which will play host to 700 parent and children participants. A total of 5 382 litres of Mattoni natural mineral water will be consumed during this event. In the spring of this year as part of a plea to encourage people to return PET bottles, RunCzech joined the Zálohujme! (Bring back!) initiative, which now involves 20 other large companies and organisations.

RunCzech presents a new off-road race Liberec Nature Run

10 Oct, 2018 (Wed)

Credit : RunCzech On a sunny Sunday October 7, 2018 more than 2600 runners were standing at the start line of a brand new RunCzech race – Liberec Nature Run, which took its participants out of the city into forests and uphill the Jizera Mountains. The first to cross the finish line of the 22 km distance were Czech famous runners Vit Pavlista among men (01:19:45) and Zuzana Kocumova (01:39:06) among women. The winners of a shorter 12 km distance were Ondrej Fejfar (00:44:26) and Jana Pekarova (00:53:02), both from the Czech Republic. RunCzech, the organizer of the nine main running events in the Czech Republic with seven races awarded the IAAF Gold Label has finished its 2018 season presenting a brand new race – Liberec Nature Run held in the north of the country. The event was offering two main distances – 22 km and 12 km – as well as a short 2,5 km non-competitive family run. “To meet the needs of our runners we have decided to create a different race with a challenging off-road course that brings runners to the nature of the Jizera Mountains. Starting in the city center the vast majority of the race goes through a protected landscape area of the Jizera Mountains. The participants could enjoy running through the green forest, around the dam and the granite quarry. Moreover, everyone who managed to complete the race could also look forward to a finisher t-shirt and a unique medal in the form of a granite stone in a special handmade bag,” adds the race director Vaclav Skrivanek. The RunCzech running season 2018 is over but the runners can also look forward to the two winter races co-organized by RunCzech in the south of Italy known as Napoli Running events (Sorrento-Positano 27 and 54 km on December 2 and Napoli City Half Marathon on February 24). The registrations for all RunCzech events 2019, including the 25th Volkswagen Prague Marathon, are already open at www.runczech.com. Results Men 22 km 1. VÍT PAVLIŠTA | CZE | 01:19:45 2.
