Loved it. Was my second marathon, the crowd was amazing. Got a little apprehensive at start, seeing that the fueling stations weren't very "official" and there were permanent food and drinks given by the population, but got used to it fast and loved the concept. Since I wasn't running for time, the hills didn't bother me. Amazing way to get through all the places in the city - it is best to know before where are you passing and what you are passing, to enjoy the experience better!

This was my first full marathon. I ran it in 3:16. Having examined the course and read some online reviews I was a bit apprehensive about inclines and hills, however this course actually really suited me well as I was able to enjoy the downhill areas of the course. The route is really interesting, I'm from the south of Ireland so not to familiar with Belfast, although it seemed to really take in the whole diversity of the city. The crowds were amazing, the route passes residential and inner city commercial buildings and the streets were lined with people cheering on us runners. The last few miles of the course are most welcome, it is a long downhill run which takes you onto the coast and a fresh welcome sea breeze. I will definitely return to run it again. A few parts of the course are a bit narrow in places, and there's also a relay which takes place too, which is well supported by local communities, i can see how some reviewers online were a bit frustrated, however if you are looking to run sub 3:45 then I do not believe you will be effected by any narrowness on the course or the changing of batons at relay points! Have a good one :) Michael
