The Sofico Gent Marathon is Belgium’s premier spring marathon, attracting 15,000 runners and gaining international recognition. The start is at Sport Vlaanderen Gent, with a heroic finish on the athletics track inside the hall, delivering an electrifying final stretch.
Runners will navigate a route packed with city highlights including St. Michael’s Bridge, Houtdok, the Gentbrugse Meersen nature reserve, and the Planet Group Arena. To enhance the race experience, marathon and half marathon runners start at different times, ensuring a smoother flow.
Beyond the full marathon, the event also offers a half marathon and an 11 km run, making it accessible to all levels. The March race date provides ideal running conditions.

Jef Torbeyns grinded past more than 2050 runners to win in 01:16:08. Guust De Smul secured second in this year’s race with a time of 01:17:20. Finishing third was Björn Pollentier (01:17:40).
In the ladies race, Gino Van Geyte finished first in 02:34:19 , ahead of Joris Beaumon (02:37:16). Finishing third was Tim Vroman (02:47:25).

For the women, Claire Altmann took top spot in 00:41:47 . She bested Sofie Claeys who crossed the finish line une minute 18 secondes behind her. Finishing third was Maria Rita Di Meo (00:43:38).

For the women, Lieselotte Beck claimed victory with a time of 03:07:05 , ahead of Heidi Wouters (03:13:10). Rounding out the top three was Charlotte Van De Velde with a time of 03:14:21.
