On Sunday Applegate Deer Farm transforms to a gravel venue as the launching pad and finish line of Down For Gravel which explores endless (g)roads in Maine and New Hampshire. This included bits of technical terrain woven between the smooth flow of gravel in this quiet region of ME and NH. The beautifully scenic route climbs the foothills of the NH White Mtns and rolls along the lakes and streams. Keep your eyes peeled for Mt. Washington which can show itself snow capped in September.
***Highlight of the event, the 50 mile route will go right past Gneiss Brewing where you can stop for cold beer from the tasting room! They will open early at 11 am.
“I have raced Steamboat, Rooted, and Overland, the interesting thing about DFG is the unique terrain, it’s different then all the events I have done. The route combined all of the textures to keep you on your toes. Welcomed back to a great relaxing venue with food, beer, and plenty of space to spread out. I’ll definitely be back for 2022” ~Matt Tedder
“We arrived the day before with a warm welcome from Greg and the entire crew who organized DFCX. The open farm venue situated on a beautiful lake took my breath away in the alluring evening light. It was especially neat to observe the herd of 80 deer after a few hot laps between the tape. The course was really well laid out with a perfect mix of tech and power. Race day vibe was low key, and easy to get around the venue. Jumping in the lake and enjoying the food and beer was another unexpected highlight of the event. I highly recommend putting DFCX on your calendar!” ~ Maghalie Rochette
