About the event

May 5th is National Ride a Bike Day. This is a chance to join other cyclist, ride the Doodle Trail, challenge yourself and get a tee-shirt and medal to recognize your accomplishment. Proceeds from the ride will go to the Momentum Bike Club.  You will see riders from Momentum Bike Club on the trail.

Doin' the Doodle

You have the option of riding 15, 30, 45 or 60 miles. You will be starting at Sip and Ride which is a short distance from the Easley Doodle park. You will pick up your bib and tee shirt any time after 8:00am and 12:00am. This is not a race. This is a casual ride up and down the Doodle Trail with your friends. It will be a staggered start to prevent congestion on the trail. You will ride north to the Pickens Doodle Park and then head back to the Easley Doodle Park, circle the yellow pole and then head back to Sip and Ride to collect your award once you complete your loops.  You are expected to follow the rules of the road and stop at every intersection. There are no bonus points for finishing fast. This is strictly for endurance. If you want to race, consider the Glassy Mountain Challenge.

Doin' the Doodle plus Glassy Mountain Challenge

The Glassy Mountain Challenge is a time trial format climb up dreaded Glassy Mountain in Pickens. It is only 1.1 miles of leg shredding climbing. You must be in good shape to complete this climb. The Challenge Race will start at 10:00am and the last rider will be released at 11:00am. This is a all out race for cash and the polka dot jersey. Riders can warm up on the Doodle Trail and then stage at 526 Farrs Bridge Rd and wait for a start time. You can then cross 183 and start up S. Glassy Mountain Road. The time starts after you safely cross 183 and start the first climb up S. Glassy Mountain Rd. The race ends at the finish line at the top of Glassy Mountain. There is no bonus for the descent. It is fast and dangerous so stay in your lane and keep in mind, disoriented climbers are coming up the mountain.
