About the event

Set within the Dogwood Canyon Nature Park, these trail runs offer a unique running experience. Dogwood Canyon is a natural paradise with over 10,000 acres, providing a fantastic variety of trails for our 50K/25K/15K trail runs. Located close to Lampe, Missouri, the trails take runners through both Missouri and Arkansas. This is truly a perfect trail race with rocks, hills, mud, streams and more. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and clothing as the race takes place rain or shine and the temperatures can range from the 20's to the 70's.

Each trail run is unique, but all runs share some of the same territory. The 15K has two aid stations while the 25K and 50K have 3 to 5 aid stations. The courses are hilly and somewhat rocky, providing our runners with a physically challenging and satisfying experience. Parts of our Dogwood Canyon Trail Run courses are only open for our trail runs, making the participants of this world-class event amongst the special few who are granted access to these majestic and hidden areas of the canyon. After their first trail run with us, most participants make our Bass Pro Shops Fitness Series Dogwood Canyon Trail Runs an annual event. We love our runners!

Dogwood Canyon 50K

21 Jul, 2011 (Thu)

§staticmap(2581,5,450,250)Hello, on October 23rd 2011, you’ll be organizing the Dogwood Canyon 50K Trail Run. Can you tell us where it is located? It is located in Dogwood Canyon State Park in Lampe, Missouri. How old is the race and why was it created in the first place? The race is in its third year and was created to challenge runners and encourage another avenue of adventure and fitness. What kind of route have you set up for the runners? How would you describe it? The route is challenging with hills, streams and plenty of adventure. It is probably the most challenging route in the Midwest. It is also one of the most beautiful routes around. I would describe is as a challenging adventure. Credit : Darin HouseHow many runners do you expect on Sunday morning? What type of runners do you plan to attract? The 50K will draw about 100 participants. They are generally folks who like challenge and are looking for a way to gain personal satisfaction from completing this event. Do you organize other races during the Week-End? If so, on what distances? We will have a 25K and a 15K. The day before the trail runs we are having a ROGAINE Race. At that time of the year, what kind of weather can we expect? Cold, dry weather in the morning warming up to mild weather as the day goes on. Credit : Darin HouseHave you planned festivities around the marathon? Our marathon weekend happens two weeks after our trail runs. We will have a full, half, relay, 5K, pasta dinner, and wellness walk that weekend. The race finished, what advice would you give a runner who has never been to Lampe before? A good restaurant, a fancy sightseeing? Take advantage of the park and the area. It is a beautiful place, worth spending a day in the area just to explore. I would recommend staying at Big Cedar Lodge, eating at their restaurant and then driving through Lampe and the surrounding area. I would recommend exploring the trails and the park as a whole. In a single sentence, what would you tell the readers of ahotu Marathons to make them register for the Dogwood Canyon 50K Trail Run? The Dogwood Canyon Trail Runs, open only to those running these events, are designed for those runners wanting to challenge themselves while being able to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Dogwood Canyon. Interview with Melissa Bondy who is coordinating the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor Fitness Festival, which includes the Dogwood Canyon Trail Runs.
