About the event
A few notes:
Miles 0-50 (Bend to Sisters): No issues, awesome singletrack traverse to kick things off.
Miles 50-112 (Sisters to McKenzie Bridge): Early season should reduce the sand traps on Santiam Road. Small potential closure in last ~3 miles of the MRT. Easily bypassed on road.
Miles 112-190 (McKenzie Bridge to Oakridge): Gravel segment was utilized as a fire break last year and should be passable with no issues. A-T-C-A will be a highlight again.
Miles 190-243: (Oakridge to North Waldo): Burned by the Cedar Creek fire. Bunchgrass trail segment will be a stunning challenge, as always. Fuji to gold lake trail will turn that frown upside down. Waldo loop has been logged and will be a 15 mile technically demanding segment. The bulk of potential hike-a-bike of the entire 325 miles will occur on this segment, I would estimate ~25 miles of very challenging terrain, it'll be worth every step. It was challenging before the fire anyways.
Miles 243-325 (North Waldo to Bend/Finish): 1 small bypass could be necessary for 2 miles of FS road for pavement. Cultus Lake is regularly cleared, some minor deadfall may be there though. The trails from Lava Lake to Bend are golden.
We will be ironing out the GPX as we approach the GD date, but please feel free to pose any questions and we will answer to the best of our abilities.
Again, this is a free, fully self supported ride. You will need to be completely self reliant on this ride. We appreciate the consistent interest in this event and hope more folks can experience the Central Oregon landscape, towns and people. Thank you to the @oregontimbertrail, @oakridgebikeshop and numerous trail organizations for being incredible stewards. NWCA for organizing a ton of moving parts behind the scenes.
