The Windigo 100’s à Black and Yellow 125

The season opener for the Windigo 100’s Series, this route is named for the Black Butte(s) and Yellow Pines (Ponderosas) that highlight the route.
The Ride:
§
This is a SELF-SUPPORTED EVENT. There are no aid stations or official vehicles on course. You must follow the rules of the road and the basic tenets of unsupported racing:
- No Drafting
- No accepting outside assistance
- No visitation, drop bags, crew vehicles, etc. All forward movement must be accomplished by bike, foot, or by crawling on your belly like a snake.
- This event is constructed similarly to a bikepacking race, but designed to be shorter in order to allow riders to experience what it feels like to race for ~18-24hrs

The course begins in downtown Sisters, OR.§
Riders immediately join the Peterson Ridge trail before climbing the Oregon Timber Trail to Three Creeks.
Descend the world class Trail 99 before crossing over the Whychus Creek Canyon and taking quiet FS roads north of the McKenzie pass highway to access Dark Lake and Suttle Lake. The Suttle Lake boathouse & lodge offer resupply options (Mile ~62).

Complete the short Round Lake loop extension before joining the Lake Creek trail into Camp Sherman. The general store is a second and final resupply option (Mile ~77).
The route takes the western edge of the Metolius River to the lower bridge campground, the northernmost point on the ride.
The final climb begins in earnest once you cross the river, enjoy the views as you approach Green Ridge.
Riders must complete the short out n back to the historic fire lookout, perched 2,000 above the Metolious River.
o Riders will also receive instructions before the start to obtain a hidden token in this general area.
§ The final ~25 miles are woven along the slopes of Black Butte, through a remarkable forest of Yellow Pine.
§ The finish line is in downtown Sisters, OR.
Finishers that complete the full route before sundown on the weekend following the Summer Solstice (sunrise is 5:22 am, sunset is 9:03 pm) will be considered excellent, while all riders have a 24-hour cutoff to be considered a BY-One-Two-Fiver.
