About the event
In a powerful show of solidarity, athletes and fitness enthusiasts in North Louisiana have the opportunity to support cancer survivors and those undergoing treatment through an inspiring initiative. Brought to life by medical students from LSU Health Shreveport, the Cancer Survivorship Walkathon invites participants to challenge themselves and walk a mile or more in a demonstration of strength and resilience at the picturesque Betty Virginia Park. This event not only celebrates the spirit of survivorship but also provides an avenue to fundraise for Wellness & Integrative Medicine at the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center.
The Cancer Walking Group extends an invitation to Survivor Saturdays, a vibrant weekly gathering where survivors and supporters come together to walk and share inspiring stories. After the walkathon, participants can refuel and connect with healthy options from food trucks and gain insights at a health educational fair.
This empowering event offers a free entry to survivors and LSUHS students. Seize the opportunity to register early and secure your t-shirt size as a memento of your commitment to this vital cause. Athlete sponsorships are welcome, providing a chance to contribute to a meaningful community impact. For sponsorship inquiries, reach out to Margo Holland at 318-734-8734 or [email protected].
