About the event
The Shore Athletic Club hosts the Big Bang Mile, a race open to all runners and age groups. Among the highlights are USTAF-NJ team competitions, cash bonuses for top performances, and age group awards. Participants compete for custom-designed medals, and the event celebrates achievements in the endurance sports community. The course, a flat and fast loop, attracts runners seeking personal bests on a USATF-certified path. The majority of awards and cash prizes are given during a ceremony after the race. The event is inspired by the scientific contributions of Robert Wilson and Arno Penzias, promoting STEM education indirectly.
