49th Annual Belmar 5 Mile Run
Presented by the Goodwill Hose Co., the Borough of Belmar & the Jersey Shore Running Club 
Saturday, August 30, 2024 – 8:00 AM Please join us for the 49th Annual 5 Mile Run along the beautiful Belmar oceanfront and local streets while helping to raise money for the Goodwill Hose Co.  The Belmar 5 Mile is one of the largest road races in New Jersey, with more than 2500 participants each year.  This event has something for everyone - from our premier event - the 5 Mile Run - to the Kid's Races for our littlest runners on Friday, August 29!  

REGISTRATION
$35 Early Bird Registration (2/9/25 through 5/31/25 (10% for JSRC Members thru 5/31)
$40 Online Pre-Registration (6/1 through 8/24)
$50 Race Week & Event Day Late Registration (8/27 - 8/30) In-Person Only

Important: Race bibs were mailed to the Runsignup registered address for Belmar 5 Mile Run entrants who registered through July 31.  Registrants who register on or after August 1st will be able to pick their bibs during race week at the pickup locations on the dates listed below.  Kid's Races bibs will be held for pickup.  Runners instructions will be emailed to all participants on or about August 24.  

Returned bibs are not re-mailed.  If you registered by July 31 and have not received your bib by August 10, please send an email to [email protected].  Each year we have more and more bibs either returned to us or lost in the mail because of improper address.  To date, more than 25 bibs have been returned by the Post Office for insufficient address, unknown address, etc or lost in the mail.  If you have not received your bib in the mail, please visit the help table to receive a replacement bib.  If you registered using an incorrect address, you will be able to receive a new bib during race week for a $5 fee.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all Belmar 5 runners and the children, the course is restricted to registered runners, wheelchair division athletes & official race personnel.  No children under 7 years old are allowed on the race course in any type of baby strollers/joggers or baby carriers. Do not have children or other family members jump in to finish with you. Unregistered participants, unauthorized vehicles, baby strollers/joggers, roller blades, in-line skates, skateboards, pets and bicycles are also prohibited in the race and will be removed from the race course.  Bib numbers must be visible on all participants.  Only the registered runner will be permitted to cross the finish line.  No backpacks will be allowed.  We ask your cooperation.  For the safety of all participants, volunteers, residents and race personnel, there is a 90 minute time limit for the Five Mile Run (18 min/mile pace maximum).  
  TEAM COMPETITION
Register online as a Team for the Belmar 5 mile team competition.  Team entry is free.  No additional charge to be on a team.  Team Awards at the Bar A post-race celebration

DONATIONS
The Belmar Goodwill Hose Co. is a not-for-profit, 501c(3) organization that provides emergency fire and rescue services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to residents and visitors to the Borough of Belmar since 1901.  The squad is staffed 100% by volunteer firemen and relies on charitable contributions to help fund equipment and operating expenses.  Please consider making a donation during registration to support the volunteer first responders who serve our community.

POST RACE PARTY
After the race, we invite everyone to join the post-race celebration for a barbecue, entertainment and drinks at Bar Anticipation.  There will also be a team awards presentation, lots of gift cards donated by local merchants, two bicycles compliments of Miller Lite and two 2026 Belmar beach badges.  

HEAT ADVISORY
Temperatures/humidity can be high on the Jersey Shore during the summer months. Participants should drink plenty of fluid (non-alcoholic) for 48 hours prior to, during and upon finishing the race. Beware of heat-injury symptoms (dizziness, no sweating, nausea, cramps, redness, incoherent speech and thoughts). Seek immediate assistance if symptoms occur. Wear loose, light-colored clothing.

EVENT PARKING
ARRIVE EARLY - Allow extra time as parking in Belmar is limited this time of the year.  Note that there will be street closures along the race course starting at 6:30 am. Do Not attempt to drive into these areas. There will be restricted parking along the race course.  There will be no parking on Ocean Ave from the BeImar-Avon Bridge to 10th Avenue. Metered parking will in effect at 7 am.  We request that you respect the town’s parking rules, nearby residential homes and businesses.
