About the event
The Baku Marathon is Azerbaijan’s premier long-distance race, bringing together thousands of runners from around the world. Organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Seaside Boulevard Department, and Baku Olympic Stadium, the marathon promotes sports, healthy living, and community solidarity in Azerbaijan.
Held annually since 2016, the 21-kilometer course begins and ends at State Flag Square, guiding runners through Baku’s scenic coastline, historic landmarks, and modern avenues. The event features entertainment zones, fan areas, and cultural activities, creating a festive atmosphere.

İsmail Ssenyange outpaced more then 7426 runners to win in 01:08:34. He finished 2 minutes 43 secondes ahead of Moradi Mohammadjafar. Rounding out the top three was Elman Abışov with a time of 01:16:27.
For the women, Poltavska Poltavska took top honours by finishing the race in 01:23:51 . Suzanne Matonti earned runner-up honours with a time of 01:27:15. While Anna Yusupovaa came in third at 01:28:06
