Course highlights

The start will again be at ‘t Zand, in the shadow of Bruges’ Concert Hall. After the starting shot, the course meanders through the beautiful Bruges city centre, followed by a well-received passage through the charming medieval splendour of Damme and the stretch along Damme Canal. The finish is traditionally on Bruges’ magical Market Square. Participants finish with a view of the majestic Belfry. There is no setting more beautiful to complete your final metres. The full course will be announced later this year, but it is no secret that the participants will be able to enjoy the most beautiful views along the way despite the drops of sweat. In that respect, the course will be a copy of the 2023 one for the most part. Moreover, the Athora Great Bruges Marathon is an ideal race to improve your personal record thanks to it being so flat. Runners can choose between two distances: the mythical marathon and the challenging half marathon. Walkers can opt for the 8km Family Walk, allowing participants to enjoy delicious culinary treats along the way.

My first half was amazing, great support around the course. The location was lovely & the race route was flat & fast. Well organised with friendly helpful officials. The refreshment stations around the course were much appreciated as was the beer & food after the race. I honestly really enjoyed it except maybe the last 100m of cobbles.

This was my first marathon ever. I liked the start a lot in the little streets of Brugges which is also called the Venice of the North. Afterwards the course went by the water as we ran towards the sea. Returning happend through little villages with their typicall white houses. Around km 30 my hamstrings started shivering so i had to slow down and even walk a few times. After all i managed to finish under 4h , in 3h:57 min, which i saw as a succes for my first one.

we all enjoyed the walk and glad that this was an option as we had a few runners taking part in the half marathon, but we could also join in the fun by walking 8k.

it was a fabulous walk, taking in the sites as we meandered through. met up with marathon runners for the final bit. it was great.

Bed & Breakfast. Pesimo lugar.
