About the event
The 89er 5K is an event organized by the Guthrie High School JROTC cadets to raise funds for educational and leadership programs, benefiting both students and veteran organizations. Participants of all abilities are encouraged to join, whether running or walking, and to enjoy the sense of community. Top male and female runners in various age groups can earn trophies. The event takes place in Guthrie as part of the local '89er Day festivities, which celebrate the historic Oklahoma land run of 1889. The race happens irrespective of severe weather but may be subject to course changes.
