SPAR Budapest Marathon

Great views of the Danube River can be enjoyed on the ride.

Pros: Scenic route along the Danube, good organized start/finish, lovely pacers, well-arranged refreshment-stations, great price and included T-shirt. Cons: Poorer route than previous years (2021)(apparently because of a bridge renovation) and announcements in English were somewhat messy. Overall a great experience.

You can Run near to Danube and kinda fast route. There is a few occasion that you have to run up to a bridge. Only downside is that you are limited to a smaller lap (14 km) and a bigger lap (28km) and just around the Danube, but Budapest has many many nice place to visit.

The Marathon Expo was very small, in a tent on a grass field but the actual marathon was really well organised, lots of well stocked fuel stations an amazing route along the Danube, into the Margret island park, running past historical building and into a little village. Race not to crowded and very friendly. Amazing medal at the end!

In 2017 I ran in Budapest twice. Polmaraton in April and in October my third marathon, which I managed to break into a new personal record. I like Budapest, and if it is possible, I will be glad to come back again.

Ran the 30km (which is quite an unusual distance on events) and a relay in Budapest and I can tell ya'll it was great. The BSI who organized it did a fantastic job: route was all closed off and marshalled everywhere, refreshment stations were well equipped and they even think about recycling the plastic cups. The crowds and bands all around the scenic route were cheerful and always gave another push when I was running low on energy. Course is flat and if you peel your eyes open you'll see the best of Budapest while you're running ;)

Very unusual distance. This is what marathonists call mental half of the marathon, this is where the "wall" is.

The organisation was really good, the scenery in the route was amazing and flat many of refreshments stations full of fruits sugar isotonic drinks,the vibe of the crowd was amazing and almost everywhere,totally recommend!

Beautiful city and well organized. Also very friendly for foreign runners, everything well explained in English.

I was very impressed with the hydration support the race offered to participants. It was really well organized and designed for runners to feel protected. Congratulations to the Event.

The distance was good . It is a comfortable distance to run. Not easy and not hard properly

Loved the event, gorgeous route along the river Danube and excellent organisation. Also good prices if you book on early bird. My only complaint was the tight cutoffs - 5.30 for a marathon, 1.15 for the 10km

Really enjoyed this race, great and small little atmosphere which takes you around everywhere in Budapest with some great views.

Zig zagging across Budapest's bridges was quite a cool highlight for me!

Very well organised, great communication and refreshment stations throughout - a beautiful city to run through!
