The 10th Annual Tampa YMCA Turkey Gobble, Tampa’s Thanksgiving Day 5K & 1 Mile Walk will take place on Thurs., Nov. 28, 2024 beginning and ending in front of Amalie Arena, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa 33602

What is the race day timeline?
To ensure a mandatory on-time race start, race day registration & bib pick up will NOT be available.

What is the price of the race and is it timed?
The 5K event is chip timed, the 1-mile event is not chip timed.
5K: $30 until midnight 8/14/24; $35 8/15/24– 10/31/24; $40 11/1/24- 11/14/24; $45 11/15/24 until noon on 11/27/24* 
1-mile walk/run - $25 until noon 11/27/24*
*Pending availability in each event. Registration will close when each event sells out or at noon 11/27/24, whichever is first

What is included in the participant registration price?
Chip timed numbered bib for 5k; non-chip timed bib for 1 mile
Gender specific dri-fit shirt—size guaranteed if registered by 11/10/24
NOTE: Shirts are not guaranteed if registering after 11/10/24
Finisher medal for ALL participants:  5K & 1 Mile!

Are there Awards for the 5K?

$100 gift cards to the top 3 Overall  Male and top 3 overall female 5K winners. Special prize awarded to top male and top female child (9 and under).Recognition awards awarded to 1st 2nd AND 3rd place in-person racers only Male/Female awards in the following age groups: 9 and under, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+

The TOP INDIVIDUAL FUNDRAISER will get two tickets to the Starship BRUNCH Cruise for the date of your choice.

The TOP FUNDRAISING TEAM will have a banner on the plaza at Amalie Arena recognizing your team's fundraising!

When & Where is Pre-Race Packet Pick-Up?

2 Options:

To ensure an on-time race start, race day registration and bib pick up are not available!

Can I pick up someone else’s race bib or can someone pick up mine?
Yes, you can pick up for others or have them pick up for you, however, the person picking up bibs must bring a copy of each person’s registration confirmation or photo ID

Where do I park on race day, Thurs., Nov. 28, 2024?
Parking is available in the Pam Iorio Parking Garage ($10 flat fee) and the Fort Brooke and other parking garages ($2/hour).  Limited street parking is available in the downtown Tampa area.  For additional assistance, please reference the following link:  https://www.arcgis.com/apps/dashboards/12288a4774a9436b91953388b6770ff7 

Is gear-check available race morning?
Gear check/hold is not available on race day.

Are bicycles, rollerblades, scooters, wheeled shoes or other wheeled transportation allowed in the race?
For safety reasons, except for participants pushing a baby stroller/jogger, no wheeled vehicles including but not limited to scooters, rollerblades, rolling shoes and bicycles are NOT allowed on the race course. Participants pushing a baby stroller/jogger will line up in a designated start corral.

Are dogs allowed at the race?
Yes! However, they must be registered on the race registration site. There is a $5 fee to register dogs, this will cover the cost of the bandana they should be wearing on race day. The capacity for dogs is 150 and registration will close once that number is met. For safety reasons, dogs must be on a non-retractable leash not to exceed 6’. Owners must clean up after them and will line up in a designated start corral.

I registered for the virtual race, what do I need to know?                                                                                                                                                                All virtual participants get a t-shirt and medal which you will get at packet pickup. You may run/walk your race at your own time/location between 11/20-11/27. You may post your results during that time on our registration site.

My child will be in a stroller, do I need to register my child?

You do not need to register your child for the race if they will ride in the stroller and remain in the stroller while on the course. If your child likes to get out and walk with you periodically, please register your child. Children do not need to remain in strollers on Amalie Plaza. Only registered participants receive a shirt and finisher medal.

Do you need volunteers and how can they sign up?
YES, we always need volunteers! Sign up tasks & times are under the Volunteer tab on the race registration site at: https://runsignup.com/Race/Volunteer/FL/Tampa/TampaYMCATurkeyTrot 

Where can I find 5K race results?
Results will be available on RunSignup.  The link will be emailed to all participants closer to race date.

The Y is proud to say that  the Tampa YMCA Turkey Gobble covers 100% of the cost our LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA cancer survivor wellness program across the entire Tampa YMCA association AND our youth cancer survivor program: Kids Thrivers Club. The free 12-week programs offers adults and children affected by cancer a safe, supportive environment to participate in physical and social activities focused on strengthening the whole person.  While participating in the program, participants and their household family members receive a membership to the Tampa YMCA, helping the whole family regain their health.
