CPCS Running Crab 5K - MD

The annual Running Crab 5K begins at the visitor center and takes place on the scenic trails of Historic St. Mary's City.  All proceeds from this event benefit the Chesapeake Public Charter School.

Register by May 1 to guarantee a shirt by race day! Online registration closes on May 15 at midnight.

The race will take place on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 8:00AM in Historic St. Mary's City (18751 Hogaboom Lane, Saint Marys City, MD US 20686)

To get there: Take Route 5 south. As you approach St. Mary’s College of Maryland, you will see a sign welcoming you to Historic St. Mary’s City and the St. Mary’s River on the right. After the campus, turn right onto Rosecroft Road, then take the first right onto Hogaboom Lane and continue to the big blue Visitor Center.   Package Pickup & Registration Early package pick up will be available in the gym at CPCS the day before the race on Friday, May 17 immediately following dismissal from 3:15PM to 5:00PM. Race day check-in, package pick up and registration will all be set up right in front of the Visitor Center from 7:15AM to 7:45AM on Saturday, May 18 just before the race.   The race start is located on the gravel road just past the Visitor Center. We will start at 8AM sharp. Course clearance is at 9:30AM. This means that at 9:30 all finish line and support services will begin to pack up and move out. Historic St. Mary's City opens to the public at 10AM. You are welcome to stay as long as you like, but the race materials must be removed.   Course Information This is a trail race and in some places single footpath wide. For this reason we do not recommend strollers. Pease be courteous to eachother on the trail. Move to the right to allow other runners to pass if necessary. Be careful of your footing. The trail will be marked, but you will still need to be mindful of rocks, roots and holes in the path.   No water stations will be provided during the race. If you need water, please carry your own bottles or hydration packs.  Refreshments will be available after the race in the registration area.   Other Important Information: NUMBERS MUST BE VISIBLE ON THE FRONT OF YOUR SHIRT - We need to be able to clearly see your number as you approach the finish line. NO DOUBLE CROSSING THE FINISH LINE  Once you've finished, don't cross the finish line a second time. If you must escort someone, let them have their moment of glory. You had yours, so peel off well before the finish, like 100 meters. If you cross a second time and the timers record you, you get the later time. DO NOT PIN the hole marked "Do Not Pin."   Children finishing the race will receive a commemorative medal. Awards will be presented between 9 and 9:30 near the registration tables. Award categories and prizes TBD.   Restroom facilities are limited and do not open until 7:30AM.
