Run Austin Marathon

I ran the Austin Half Marathon last Sunday and really enjoyed the whole event. Starting on Congress is great and you have the back drop of the State Capital building. It is a big race with 16,000 odd runners so has that epic feel. The race was delayed by 40 minutes but these things happen. The course is undulating and I wouldn't say it was easy, but there aren't many sharp turns so you can get some real momentum. I got a PB so was delighed! The pre-race expo is great and the post-race beer garden with live music is awesome too. Would highly recommend and Austin is a great city to explore as well!

The half marathon takes in the South and Wast of the city, whereas the full takes in all sides. It must be tough for the full marathoners getting close to the finish line and then having to watch the half runners peel off. But nonetheless a great race across all distances I am sure.

Great views of all over Austin! Very well organized and there is plenty of people cheering you on along the way. Several churches, stores, and even military bases will entertain you musically along the way!
