About the event
The Run to the Moon, organized by the United Way of Auglaize County, is a long-standing tradition of the Summer Moon Festival in Wapakoneta, part of the four-day event celebrating home-town hero Neil Armstrong, the first person to step on the moon. The run begins and ends at the Armstrong Air and Space Museum, built to honor Armstrong, the Apollo 11 Moon Mission, and all Ohioans who were and are part of our country's space exploration programs. This race is the third in the Moon City Challenge, which also includes the Fly Me to the Moon (June 29) and Rocket to the Moon 5K (July 4). This run is held rain or shine; the course is mainly on flat, paved roads.
2024 AMENITIES: Runners receive a race t-shirt, plus a Run to the Moon-themed medal. Runners will also receive Moon Pies, Dannon yogurt, fruit and snacks.
MOON CITY CHALLENGE: Register for the Moon Series and receive the extra MOON CHALLENGE Medal for all 3 races! This includes: Fly Me To The Moon (June 29th), Rocket to the Moon 5K (July 4th) and Run to the Moon (July 20th)
