Leshnower Turkey Trot

Get out and get moving to help us celebrate the 10th Anniversary edition of the Leshnower Turkey Trot.

This event began in 2012 with just 6 of us trotting along the streets of the small lake community where we grew up. 

Over the years we invited friends and family to join, we began donating to the Cliffwood Lake Swim Team, and we created the very popular “choose your own swag” option.

Our #1 goal is to HAVE FUN! 

We are encouraging YOU to get out to walk or run a 5K and feel good about yourself. 

YES - you can still shoot for that PR if you want.
YES - there will be custom 10th anniversary medals and t-shirts.
YES - our signature “choose your own swag” option will be available!

COURSE

In Person Event: 
The course starts with a generous downhill. Then you’ll weave through the roads of Cliffwood Lake where there are plenty of flat roads plus a few uphills to get your legs working and a few downhills to recover. Like every good race there is one last climb before you make your way to the finish line.

Virtual Event: 
This is your chance to choose your ideal course. Go for flat and fast or challenge yourself to some hills. You can complete your 5k (3.1 miles) on the road or trail. We'll be there to celebrate with you online at the finish!

 

REGISTRATION

For both events, you must register by NOVEMBER 1 for your swag to arrive BEFORE the trot.

Turkey Trot FAQ

Do I have to complete the trot ON Thanksgiving Day?
The in-person event is ONLY on Thanksgiving Day (11/25) at 9:00 am in Vernon, NJ. 
The virtual event can be completed any day 11/20-11/30 anywhere you want at any time that is convenient for you.

How does a virtual event work?
You complete the 5k trot in a location of your choice any day 11/20-11/30; then submit your results.

Why is the race so long (Nov 20 - 30)?
One of the best things about virtual events is that YOU get to decide when and how you complete the race. Check the weather and pick the day that fits best in your life. 

How do I start training?
Walk or run 2-3 times a week. Start with a short distance and work your way up to the 5k. For additional support, contact Coach Adina at [email protected].

What if I can’t run the full distance? 
Run as much as you feel comfortable, jog or walk when you need a break. 

What if I don’t run, jog or trot?
No problem - you can walk the whole thing!

Is there a course map?
Yes and No.
In-person event - a course map will be provided.
Virtual event - you get to choose the course you want.

When will I get my swag?
If you register BEFORE Nov 1, your event swag (medal & optional long-sleeved hooded t-shirt) should arrive BEFORE Thanksgiving Day.
If you register AFTER Nov 1, your event swag (medal & optional long-sleeved hooded t-shirt)  will be shipped out after the trot for early DECEMBER delivery.
NOTE: When using the “choose your own swag” option, items will be delivered directly to your home based on order dates.

Super easy!

2. Order online and your swag will be shipped directly to your house!
NOTE: This is separate from the race swag that comes with your registration (medal & optional long-sleeved hooded t-shirt).

Can I change between the in-person and virtual events after I sign up?
Yes, no problem. This option is available after you register. Our team is available to support you as needed at [email protected].
