Melaku Abera (2:09:27) finished ahead of more than 2,800 runners to win the Beppu-Oita Mainichi Marathon in south Japan.
Anthony Maritim secured second with a time of 2:11:17.
Shume Hailu (2:11:41) managed to hold off Ishida Kazuya (2:12:25) for third.
