À propos de l'événement
On Mother's Day, Sunday, May 12, join us for the sixth annual Genny Tenny fundraiser, a point-to-point dirt road race connecting the communities of Craftsbury and Albany! We'll be offering both 10-mile and a family-friendly 5-kilometer course options, including a walk category for the 5km. The traditional 10-mile run connects the two Gennys, starting in Craftsbury Village, in front of the Craftsbury General Store, and ending in Albany village at the Albany General Store. The 5-kilometer course will start at the top of Pitkin Rd (near mile 7 of the 10-mile course) and will also finish at the Albany Genny. 5-kilometer participants can choose to sign-up for either the walk or the run. After the finish we'll celebrate with a rocking post-race party and brunch! This event is sponsored by the Craftsbury Outdoor Center and The Genny as a fundraiser for the Albany Community Trust.
Food at the finish (included in race registration fee) will feature a smattering of brunch foods from the Albany General Store. There will be a free shuttle to the start lines (Craftsbury Genny for the 10-mile, top of Pitkin Road for the 5km) from parking in Albany before the race.

Course
Map below (this map shows the 2023 race course, stay tuned for an updated 2024 map that will show the new 5km course).
*ALL ROADS WILL REMAIN OPEN FOR THE DURATION OF THE RACE! All racers must run on the left side of the road facing traffic and no more than two abreast. Please run single file as cars approach, and check both ways when making a road crossing. Participants must follow all typical traffic rules.
10-mile: The majority of the course is on rolling dirt roads, with the starting and finishing stretches (<800 meters) on pavement. There is a mile-long section of Class IV (unmaintained) road at mile 7-8.
5km: This course will start near the 7 mile mark of the 10-mile course and go directly into a section of Class IV road (not suitable for strollers). The course map will be published soon. It will feature a significant net downhill profile.
Note on dogs- while we love your furry friends, please don't bring them with you during the race. There will be a little too much going on with crowds of runners, kiddos, cars on the roads, etc.
Race Parking
We will offer parking at the Albany School (near the finish). We will only have shuttles before the race to take runners to the start in Craftsbury Village (10-mile) or to the top of Pitkin Road (5km). Please do not park in front of (or behind) the Craftsbury General Store or the C-Village Store. The stores will be open during the race.

Getting to The Start
10-mile: Set your GPS to South Craftsbury Road, Craftsbury, VT
5-km start location will be at the top of Pitkin Road where it turns into Class IV. DO NOT try to drive to this location from Albany Center as the road is not maintained; it should be accessed from the Page Pond Road side. There will be no parking available here- we ask all 5km racers to use the shuttle provided from the Albany school.
Getting to Albany (the finish)
Set your GPS to Main St, Albany, VT. (Parking is at Albany school, just a few hundred meters down the road from the race finish)
Volunteering
Want to participate, but not run? Every event takes a lot of helping hands. We're going to need volunteers, and you'll get a tasty lunch out of the deal. Sign up to volunteer.
Why are we raising funds?
Every small vital community in Vermont has at its center a general store. In 2014, the Albany General Store was lost to a fire and stood empty for years. Prior to the fire, the store had been a community gathering place offering food staples, gas, and a place to meet and make new friends. A survey of Town residents in 2017 showed overwhelming support for a new store. To accomplish this, town residents got together and formed a community non-profit corporation, Albany Community Trust, Inc. (ACT). The Albany Community Trust believed it was vital to “restore the store” as a basic building block for the prosperity of our town and life here.
The Albany General Store re-opened on June 3, 2021. The store/café is a welcoming place for everyone in the community and serves a wide range of customers including Albany residents, commuters, snow travelers, bike tours, tourists and others passing through Albany. It is a gathering place (with both indoor and outdoor seating), a place to get grocery staples and local products, as well as prepared food. Funds for the store renovation came from grants and donations from individuals and corporations.
The Albany Community Trust now turns their attention to other projects to “support positive growth and increased vibrancy in Albany VT”. Subscribe to ACT's newsletter, learn more, and donate at www.albanycommunitytrust.org!
