Best of Me 5K Run/Walk - Memphis, TN

Join us for the 3rd Annual Best of Me 5K Run/Walk to benefit the Maggie McDowell Scholarship Fund of the Memphis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated! Lace up your shoes and hit the pavement as we come together to support educational opportunities for meriting students. Since its inception in 1935, the Memphis Alumnae Chapter has been on the forefront of public/community service and social action issues, allowing us to become transformational leaders through mentorship and offering scholarship opportunities to support educational advancement. Over the past 10 years, the Chapter has raised over $250,000 to provide scholarships to a diverse range of deserving students. The coronavirus pandemic has caused a damaging and everlasting effect on the economy, and we need your help to continue our efforts to improve and increase our scholarship giving. We invite you to support us as a Sponsor, Virtual Participant, or In-Person participant! Whether you're a seasoned runner or prefer a leisurely stroll, everyone is welcome to participate and make a difference. COURSE: Enjoy the beautiful scenery of Overton Park. Strollers are permitted on the course. Pets are not allowed on the course. TIMING: Registered participants will receive a timing device attached to their bib. In order to receive an accurate time, please confirm that your bib is: Clearly visible on the front of the torso Unaltered and unmodified (not folded or wrinkled) Pinned/attached in all four corners Uncovered (jackets, fuel belts, etc.) Results are published live within a few minutes of completion and are chip to chip times for crossing the timing pad.  VIRTUAL OPTION: Run or walk a 5K (3.1 miles) on your favorite course or treadmill the week leading up to the race. Virtual 5K participants receive a finisher medal by mail two weeks after the race.  AWARDS: Each participant will receive a Finisher's Medal EVENT SWAG***: Short-sleeve T-shirt & goody bag *** Race bibs and event swag are ONLY available for in-person participants at packet pick-up or on race day.
