Beautiful scenery throughout! Start in city of Interlaken and race your way up through gorgeous Lauterbrunnen Valley and make your way up to the steep mountain village of Wengen. This was definitely tough and challenging. After running on road for 15 miles or so, you start climbing/hiking and it's quite the climb. The course levels off at some points, giving your legs a break from the climb, but the last 4mile is a straight shot up the steep mountain. You are basically hiking up a steep mountain at this point to reach Eigergletscher. Views are gorgeous throughout. Lovely support crowd yelling "Hopp" and sounding the cowbells. The alphorns on the mountain and bagpipes were a nice treat toward the finish on the top of the mountain. Volunteers were great. Plenty of aid stations throughout to keep you well hydrated and fed. Definitely brutal but beautiful. The finish is also a hike uphill haha. Worth experiencing!

Brutally fun and beautiful. Last section felt long of course as you're endlessly climbing and climbing until you reach Eigergletscher. 6407ft of climbing over 26.2 miles, one wouldn't call it easy :). Great mental and physical test and challenge.

This is indeed the Worlds most beautiful marathon! The organising is next level, the support, hydration stations and race packs are world class! The vine along the route was encouraging and the view…. Well… you have to run it to understand! Well done to all involved!

Its perfect!

Breathtaking. One couldn't help smiling from start to finish. Of course it did help that it was sunny and warm (2017 it was grey, raining and almost zero degrees Celcius at the top). May a bit too warm to run but hey ... most of the race after the 25K mark is just a hiking trip up the mountain. Be prepared that that is just the way it is for most average runners ;-) Switzerland isn't the cheapest location to visit and stay but this bucket list marathon is a must do. Very well organised. Relaxed atmospfere. Not so much to be influenced by the organisers: - Train ride down the mountain back to Interlaken took about 2 hours incl. waiting time on the platform (that already took 30 - 45 minutes and can take longer) - Take your own food with you or via your supporters up the mountain unless you want to spend EUR 30 and up per person for a quick lunch
