FPI Justice for Victims Families is not only a dedicated investigation team that is an advocate for justice, but helping families in times of grief is at the heart of our company’s mission.
Please join us on (TBD), for the first-annual 5k Justice Walk to help raise money to cover bereavement expenses, support services, and therapy for grieving children and their families struggling with the devastating loss of a loved one after a murder. FPI Justice for Victims Families has learned while working with families of unsolved murders that these cases have a lasting impact on families, especially children. After a violent death, kids experience a wide range of emotions. They feel afraid because a world that once felt safe is suddenly dangerous. They’re also worried about the other people they love, fearing that a bad thing might happen to them, while also worried about problems such as how bills are going to get paid. Every day without an arrest is a complete nightmare.
250,000 is the nation’s estimated unsolved homicides.19,207 unsolved homicides in the state of Texas.600,000 cases of missing loved ones are reported in the United States each year. 317,869 missing loved ones are under the age of 18. In Texas alone, there were 46,581 missing persons reports in 2021 with 33,774 of those being children.Although 27 percent of grieving victims’ families have received treatment or therapy from a mental health professional, few people know that health insurers are required to provide coverage for mental health. The simple fact is, grief support isn’t one-size-fits-all. Cost is not a barrier to seeking treatment for that 27 percent.Victims’ children will be provided with free backpacks at the walk equipped with carefully chosen grief resources because grief support isn’t one-size-fits-all. A joyous surprise is also included. Virtual Walkers are also welcome. Please see the Virtual Walkers page for more information. Every donor will receive a donation receipt for their tax purposes, and all participants will receive updates on the impact of the walk.
