The Race Against Racism is a youth-led, inclusive community running event that brings together social justice and athletics. A rally will begin at 12PM and the race will start at 1:30PM. This scenic 5K will not be timed but we will have a large display clock if you would like to note your time when you finish. The rally and race will take place on the State House lawn. If it is raining, we will move the event to Montpelier High School's gym. If the weather is questionable, please check our website for location information: https://raceagainstracismvt.org/.
Running is optional! There will be other highlights including a rally of inspiring BIPOC speakers and musicians from around Vermont.
If you have registered to run, please arrive at the VT State House lawn between 11:3AM and 12PM on May 7th to check in at the registration table. The race will begin at 1:30PM after the rally.
If you are not a runner but would like to show your support for equality in VT, you can plan on arriving shortly before 12PM for the performances and rally. There will also be workshops at 2PM, a closing ceremony at 2:30, social justice organizations tabling, and kids activities.
Note: While registration fees are important because they help cover the costs of this event and profits are donated to three wonderful initiatives--Everytown Vermont, the Richard Kemp Center, and the MHS BIPOC Affinity Space--we want this event to be inclusive of everyone. If you would like to register for the race without paying the entrance fee, please email Heather McLane at [email protected] with your full name, age on race day, town, and gender (M, F or NB).
