Charlie Sharpe (2:59:16) outran roughly 150 runners to win the Buller Gorge Marathon in Westport, New Zealand.
Stu Cottam (2:59:48) was the only other participant to finish under three hours.
Thomas Spiess took third with a time of 3:04:56.
For the women, it was Lisa Brignull (3:05:25) coming in well ahead of the field.
Her mark of 3:05:25 was good for fourth overall.
In a tight race for runner-up, Vanessa Bourne (3:15:01) bested Tracy Croft (3:15:28).
Bourne finished tenth overall.
More than 250 runners were no match for Buller Gorge Half Marathon winner Phil Costley (1:12:09).
Adam Jaques (1:15:01) finished less than a minute ahead of Chris Dunell (1:15:37) for second.
For the women, it was Mel Aitken (1:22:32) taking the top spot.
Leonie Konczalla earned runner-up honors with a time of 1:22:59.
Sarah Alexander (1:26:44) managed to hold off Anna Clare O’Connor (1:27:07) for third.
